My husband and I have spent 2 weeks in Croatia. A week in Split and a week on the island of Brač. We just ate at this restaurant, recommended from our hotel as one of the oldest and ‘best’. It was a horrible meal. The octopus carpaccio is not carpaccio at all - it was a cold salad of rocket, cherry tomatoes, canned olives and some cold octopus thrown on top. Grilled calamari was a small portion for the price we paid. The mains were horrendous. My husband ordered the seafood pasta which was just bland tomato sauce mixed with a frozen and cheap blend of mussels and calamari. My ‘beefsteak’ was tasteless, cold, gave me a stomachache and came with a side of old grilled vegetables. The waiter didn’t even know which cut it was. This place has an amazing location but they rip you off with the quality of their food and I’m sorry to say, we fell for it. We won’t be coming back and it’s safe to say some of the best seafood pasta and steak — we actually had in Split, which I thought would be the opposite way around. A lot left to be desired. In fact, the food was so bad that we walked into the nearest supermarket to buy a chocolate because I needed to change the taste left...
Read moreThis "restaurant" has beautiful chairs and tables outside and also beautiful view of the sea side and old part of the town but we didn t like it with my boyfriend at all. When they bring us menu I found out at the lists there is a lot of visible amount of frackles so I thought it is part of the menu design, unfortunetaly it was not like that, the frackles were from the food.. Another thing is that we ordered pizzas and my choice was vegetariana pizza costed 16€ which is ok for good pizza. For this price they bring me pizza with not fresh vegetables..probably from freezor or can at the top of the pizza which is insulting for this price .. Only rucola and maybe mashrooms were fresh. Brać has a great condition for growing fresh vegetables almost everywhere and they still put frozen vegetables at the top of the pizza instead of local fresh and tasty vegetables. Toilets looked very simple and visualy they are looking more like for bistro or petro station, not for restaurant.. plastic decorations were covered in dust and paper towels for drying my hand were missing. No doors between the area for washing hands and entrance hall.. Servis was a bit slower at the end...
Read moreArrived in Bol after a three-day stag do in Split and Hvar. Was wandering around the pretty coastal road, trying to pull myself together and away from the edge when I stumbled across this lovely venue. Partly broken from the debauchery of the past few days, I followed my heart and went for the fillet steak. Unlike the majority of my decisions thus far on the trip, this turned out to be perfect. Well seasoned, cooked to perfection, tender, juicy, and just bloody tasty. The chips were crispy yet fluffy and the addition of the veg and salad was a triumph. My compliments to the chef. I was genuinely taken aback by the quality and coming from London this would cost at least double in my hometown. There’s a chance I was still on a high from the weekend, but I just had to let the chef know. I’m not sure whether it was this or the small tear I shed following the live musician’s brilliant rendition of Wicked Games by Chris Isaak that made the waiting staff send out another glass of red on the house. Perhaps they could tell I was in need of...
