Evinos Taverna — Restaurant in Ayia Napa

A gem of a place situated just down from ‘Statue Park’ at the top side of Ayia Napa.

We ordered the ‘Big Meze’ and what a pleasant surprise. Not a minute or two after ordering, drinks were served as was the first platters of salad, bread and dips. Shortly after some sausage, beer and pork dishes and fries. Around 10 mins later, just as we were filling up and considering a desert (to share), a huge meat platter was served with butterfly chicken, belly pork and chops, chicken skewers and local Greek lamb sausage.

To say we were stuffed is an understatement, but this sharing platter was €40 for two, plus a round of drinks took the whole meal to €47 - by far one of the best value for money dishes this trip.

Extremely disappointing – never again

We waited almost 45 minutes for our food at Evinos, and when it finally arrived, it was a complete disaster. My girlfriend’s meal was watery, completely bland, and honestly disgusting. The meat was inedible, the salad was dry and looked like it came straight from yesterday’s trash. She ended up forcing down a few fries just so she wouldn’t starve.

I was hungry, so I tried to eat mine – but even I gave up halfway. It was awful. This place was a total waste of time and money.

We’re honestly just leaving and heading somewhere else to finally eat something decent. Probably going for ice cream to wash away this horrible experience.

Do yourself a favor and...

We ate here twice during our one week stay in a hotel close by. The service is great and the atmosphere is very homely. The food is good, nothing super special but a great place regardless. The prices are also very generous and you get a lot of food for the money. If you try the meze you will have a hard time to finish it all because of the large amount of food.
