Alion Beach Hotel, located about a 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive from the heart of Ayia Napa, is a modern yet elegantly designed hotel with a clean sophisticated look and feel. The hotel houses 100 rooms - 32 park view, 40 sea view, 20 side sea view, and 8 larger panoramic rooms. The hotel is nicely situated escaping the loud active Ayia Napa nightlife and overlooking one of the best parts of Limanaki Beach for swimming and sunbathing. Further, a short 5-10 minute walk along the Beach leads you to magnificent sea caves easily accessible to more adventurous swimmers and of course, divers. Another 30 minutes you will pass several quaint swimming areas and arrive at magnificent sea caves viewing point. A short 10 minute walk the other way, leads you to the vibrant centre of Ayia Napa with its numerous restaurants and abundance of pulsating nightlife.
From the road the hotel is very clearly marked and the hotel provided plenty of underground parking. The reception area design and overall layout of the hotel is both clean, modern, and pleasant. Overall a terrific first impression with a lovely view overlooking the clean emerald coloured waters of the Mediterranean.
The hotel check-in was fast, friendly and efficient. I really wish more hotels learned this from Alion. After arriving in my sea view room I found the hotel was kind and thoughtful enough to leave behind a complimentary plate of fresh sandwiches, plate of fruit, and a bottle of a local drink (wine) named Commandaria. Fresh flowers were also present in the room. The hotel also, later that day or the next, brought a bag of "loose tea" to enjoy during my stay. I enjoyed it very much. Thank you. Needless to say, a spectacular start to any stay.
The manager and staff were also kind enough to facilitate my request for a Nespresso maker, given the length of my stay. Thank you! It was used daily.
I found the maintenance and cleanliness of the rooms throughout my 39 day stay to be superb. Maid service was twice daily (including the turn down service in the evening). During the latter little chocolate mints were left for guests before bed and towels etc were replenished, garbage was emptied, and the room was tidied up. Every single day the flow was entirely mopped - perfectly clean. All of my interactions with the cleaning staff were excellent - they were friendly, helpful, and eager to please the hotel guests. I have been coming to Alion now for about 7 years and it is very pleasing when everyone remembers you from the prior year - even the cleaning staff which you rarely interact with.
Even though the rooms at Alion are far from huge they had ample closet space. Being on a longer journey I had quite a bit of clothing and luggage accompanying me. For a smaller sized room, there was more than enough space to properly stow and store everything - and plenty of hangers - Thank you! It would be nice to have an iron and board permanently in the room, however, staff was more than happy to provide upon request.
Our patio was small, but rather cute, and the view of the pool, Limanaki Beach and the sea was just lovely. The patio had a small drying rack which came in handy for air drying bathing suits and shoes after a day at the beach - a nice touch. When closing the patio doors and trying to re-open them, my significant other at times found it difficult (meaning I had to do it). Perhaps a handle can be affixed to the outside to make this a little easier.
The TV in the room was of adequate size and well positioned with a rotating base making it easy to watch in bed or in the adjacent sitting area by the table.
The mini-bar was well stocked and also reasonably priced. Complimentary coffee and tea was also provided with a fast boiling kettle and a nice variety of 4 teas - Green, Ceylon, English breakfast and English afternoon tea. Milk additive for the coffee or tea was also found with the sugar etc. I have more to say but limited to...
Read moreTerrible experience!!!!! If you’re considering booking the Alion Beach Hotel, think twice. Our stay, meant to celebrate my birthday, was an absolute disaster from start to finish.
The first night was a nightmare. There was loud singing from a wedding, followed by incessant noise from cars and trucks throughout the entire night. We barely slept, which is unacceptable for any hotel, let alone a 5-star one. When we complained to the reception the next morning, their response was shockingly indifferent and unapologetic: "Next time this happens, just call us". There was no apology or attempt to rectify the situation, which is highly unprofessional.
Our attempt to relax in the spa was also ruined when we discovered that the sauna is only free for two hours a day, between 2-4 PM. The rest of the time, access to the sauna is charged, which is absurd for a spa hotel and was never mentioned anywhere. We booked this hotel specifically because we wanted a spa experience.
Things only got worse. While I was in the shower, a housekeeper entered our room without knocking, looked at me, said something, and left. My partner immediately called the reception to report the incident. They said they would check into it, and moments later, we heard the housekeeper loudly shouting outside our room. When we went down to the reception to discuss this, the staff rolled their eyes and said, "She said she knocked"- There was no apology, and we were left feeling gaslighted.
The final straw was when we returned to our room after breakfast to find it left open and unattended. We stood in shock for two minutes, with no one in the hallway, until the housekeeper returned and casually said, "I went to get towels" This lack of security is inexcusable.
At this point, we demanded to speak with the hotel manager because every serious complaint we made was completely ignored by the reception staff, and we could no longer tolerate the neglect. When we finally spoke to the manager, his initial response was simply that "the reviews for the hotel are excellent" Of course, the reviews are excellent—that's why we chose this hotel and paid a significant amount of money! This response only added to our disappointment. We do appreciate that the manager tried to compensate us by offering a voucher for dinner at the hotel's buffet restaurant. However, given the timing and the scale of the issues we experienced, this gesture felt insufficient and failed to address the severity of our experience.
After all these issues, our supposed luxury experience, which we had eagerly anticipated for my birthday, was marred by poor service and a general lack of professionalism. We would never return to Alion Beach Hotel and cannot recommend it to anyone.
By the way, I haven't even mentioned the smaller issues, like our disappointing dinner at Ipanema and the underwhelming breakfast, because the major problems we encountered overshadowed everything else.
In summary, our stay at Alion Beach Hotel was a complete disappointment. Even basic human interactions and service were lacking, which is unacceptable, especially for a 5-star hotel. Save your money and choose a...
Read moreThis is a 3 star hotel pretending to be 4 stars. The pros of the hotel: Beautiful grounds overlooking the beach and waterfront. Close to town for you to walk to if you really wanted to. Underground garage to keep the car dry if it's raining out. Staff is helpful when you interact with them. We had an issue and needed to check out after 1 night rather than 2 nights and while the hotel gave us trouble initially (since the room was booked through expedia), they ultimately came through and credited us the cost of the 2nd night.
The cons of the hotel: The rooms are basic. You stay at the hotel b/c you want to spend time on the grounds/pool/beach, not b/c you want to hang out in the room. While the lobby looks done nice, the hallways look worn down. when you are walking to and from your room, you can see the carpets are a bit outdated, the walls are old. The elevators seem to be finicky. One time it wasn't working and couldn't be called. Using the stairs is a common practice (from what we saw). The bathroom leaves a lot to be desired as well. It's a single sink (which is common) but the biggest complaint is the shower. With no door on the tub, the water tends to splash and spill into the rest of the bathroom. it tends to pool in the corner by the tub and the sink. This is the second hotel where we saw this set up and it did not make any sense to us. I don't know why hotel wouldn't just put a door on the tub. Also, with the shower head as a shower handle (that you can adjust up or down), you essentially have to stand really close to the wall under the shower head, making it a bit more difficult to shower and not being able to use rest of the tub. Lastly, I am not sure if the AC was broken in our room but it didn't seem to cool the room. While you can feel cold air coming out of the vent, the room never got cold overnight. We had the AC down to 18 degrees Celsius but the room temp still showed 23 and the following morning it actually climbed up to 27. Since we were only staying one night at the hotel, we did not bother complaining to the staff to have it looked at, but def something we would have complained about if we were staying...
