An Excellent and Authentic Lebanese Dining Experience

Maqam Al-Sultan presents itself as an authentic Lebanese restaurant, and our experience confirms this claim. The renowned Mediterranean hospitality is evident from the moment you enter; we were greeted with a genuine smile even during a busy service. The staff are proficient in both Arabic and English, making communication easy.

The menu is a significant strength, offering a grand variety of Lebanese and Ottoman cuisine that goes beyond the standard fare to include less familiar dishes. There is a particular attraction for vegetarians and vegans, as the menu skillfully takes advantage of Lebanon's reputation for healthy, flavorful, and often low-calorie dishes. We noted the vegetarian platter for two (priced at €40) includes a mix of vegan and vegetarian items, some of which are fried, offering a range of choices. The wine list is also well-considered, featuring a selection of local Cypriot and Greek wines available by the glass or bottle.

We also want to commend the restaurant for a practice that should be more common: they are happy to serve local tap water, which is free, clean, and perfectly good to drink. For those who prefer bottled water, it is available for a very reasonable charge of three Euros. This is an excellent, customer-friendly, and environmentally aware approach. Overall, we judged the experience to be excellent and we will certainly be back.

We have written hundreds of reviews across five continents and have reached the highest level of reviewers on Google, ranked better than more than 90% of all reviewers. As ordinary consumers, we are not compensated for this review. We strive to provide fair and reliable assessments based on our experiences, hoping that the business will take them into...

A Taste of Lebanon’s Heart at Maqam Al-Sultan

Maqam Al-Sultan doesn’t just claim to offer authentic Lebanese cuisine. It truly delivers. From the moment we stepped through the door, we were enveloped in the warmth of Mediterranean hospitality. Despite a busy evening, the staff welcomed us with genuine smiles and attentive service. Their fluency in both Arabic and English made the entire experience seamless and pleasant.

The menu is one of the restaurant’s greatest strengths. It offers a rich journey through Lebanese and Ottoman flavors far more adventurous than the usual mezze lineup. There’s plenty to delight every palate, especially vegetarians and vegans. Lebanon’s famous love of fresh, wholesome ingredients shines here, with dishes that are both flavorful and health conscious. The vegetarian platter for two €40 stood out, featuring a balanced mix of vegan and vegetarian delights some crispy and fried, others fresh and vibrant.

A particularly commendable touch is their environmentally conscious approach to water service. Guests are offered local tap water clean, free, and perfectly drinkable with bottled water available for a modest €3. It’s a small but meaningful gesture that reflects both customer care and sustainability awareness.

Overall, our dining experience at Maqam Al Sultan was outstanding. It’s a restaurant that honors authenticity without pretension, and one we will...

Bear with me on this one. I have traveled across several continents but I can tell you that this is a place I will always remember. The location is great, it's just off the beach near the medieval fortification. The food is fantastic, I bet that you will never find better babaganush in your life! As for vegans, we had great options and all of them were great. And the prices are actually quite good especially considering the food quality and the location. We had a belly dancer on site too, but the thing that put Al-Sultan in my mind forever was the service. Never in my life have I ever had such a fantastic staff at any place. We had the pleasure of meeting the same three waiters each time we ate here. Magd, Fauiz and Hammam are the dream team. They are the most incredible people you could ask for and their sincerity is something you have to experience first hand. They make you feel so comfortable to be there and are genuinely friendly, not acting as if. I wish I could befriend them. A review can hardly do them justice but if you go and meet them, you will know what I mean. Now we have a photo altogether which I'm very happy about. All three of them are incredible, but we spent the most time with Magd who is absolutely phenomenal. If I go to Cyprus next time, I'm going directly to see them and eat at Al-Sultan. And so...

Was good Lebanese food with a nice view of the promenade. The meat was tender but a bit dry. It did have good flavor. I ordered the mixed grill plate which had good variety. I also ordered a lemon tart for dessert, but it was not fresh as the topping was falling apart. For €8 it was not worth it at all. They were also out of many of their other dessert options. Was also odd as many of their tables were reserved but no one sitting at them. I was there for roughly an hour and those tables stayed mostly empty. So potentially make a reservation if you want to come.
