The fish and chips was amazing, but look out for all the +++The sauces are charged at €2-€1 each, the extras are noted on their menu. If you are like me and did not pay attention or was distracted, when putting your order through be very careful. Waitress takes the order and at the end she asks u regarding the condiments, one would assume it comes with the fish and chips, especially when we are dining in. I asked My husband why he wasn’t ordering any sauces and he said “Not at that silly price!” I then said to the waitress “oh, I didn’t realise, can u please cancel my tartar sauce.” The waitress was there right next to me when I canceled.
Then I got charged €2 for a cup of hot water. I expect to pay for my water but that’s ridiculous to be charged as a cup of tea, the waitress didn’t even explain she’ll be putting it through as tea!
Half way though my meal the waitress plonks the tartar sauce and mumbles something and walks off. I tried to call her back but don’t think she heard me.
When she came back i asked her why she brought the sauce over when i had cancelled? She was so rude and blunt, she said “u did order.”
I watched her go to the staff at the bar and moan about me. I followed and said to the two staff behind the bar (think they were the owners) that i did order, but when my husband mentioned it was €++ I immediately canceled. The staff said its ok we have taken it off your bill. But that’t not the point, the waitress is literally accusing me of lying, i do not appreciate that (at this point the waitress jumps in and continues saying u did order, u did not cancel!). She was atrocious and one bad mannered person.
I must say, they did take off the charges for the tartar sauce and the tea (which both i not have) The other staff were lovely, but the rude one has put me off completely going back or recommending the place to family and friends.
The whole experience has left me...
Read moreThis place is completely overrated (2nd best rated on Tripadvisor). We visited here based on the reviews but we were really disappointed. We tried to visit the chippy one evening but we were told they were closing, which was fine but the cook proceeded to brag about how much fish they had sold that evening. This was quite off putting but we decided to give it another try. However on the second time we immediately felt unwelcome, as we had not booked and told we could only sit upstairs even though there was plenty tables inside/outside with no reserved signs on, which really wasn’t a problem for us given there are no spectacular views on the bottom floor.
The waitress was quite strange, after sitting down at the table she immediately stood over us the whole time whilst we were reviewing the menu. She also forgot our drink orders and we had to repeat this.
The food was bland and greasy, apart from the chips which were dry and hard. Some of the actual food we wanted “wasn’t available” because they weren’t open the following day, which is a weird excuse. We also got told we had secured the “last battered sausages”, as though we should be so lucky to order them.
I think the staff need to be a bit more modest, it’s as though they felt they were running a Michelin star restaurant.
