Delicious food in a friendly taverna

This was our second visit to this very friendly taverna having been here last year. We had to come back to see if it was just as good as last time, it was, we were not disappointed. This lovely taverna is definitely not your typical tourist restaurant and not out the tourist route but tucked away in the residential area.

The food is cooked outside on open grills which gives the meat extra flavour, but of course you have to be a master to get it right and the chef certainly is. It’s a very simple menu with a few Dips and Salads, the main event is the Platters or Seafood. Skewers of meat or mixed meats all served in a sizzling stone platter with delicious chips garnished with onions and parsley. This is served with hot homemade flatbread and a village salad.

We firstly ordered a salad as a starter which was quickly scribbled out when we ordered the Mix for Two, we forgot the mains included a salad. You can get bottles of wine but the carafe of village wine is some of the best we have tasted. The meat of chicken, pork and sheftalia style kebab was cooked to perfection, succulent, juicy and seasoned with herbs, totally delicious. The homemade chips are sprinkled with herbs as well, scrummy.

Our meal for two with a carafe of wine, salad, bread and a bottle of water served in the most friendly place with a bill for €41.50 is exceptional. Don’t be put off by the walk to find the taverna it’s...

We had a delicious family dinner this evening at Picnic. The meat was very tasty , sensational I could say, salad and bread were very good too... however I am not 100% happy with the experience and have to share this. We were 2 adults and our 3 sons (8 to 12). We ordered the mix for 5. The meat was more than enough (we were expecting this based on the pictures we've seen reading the reviews and considering there are 3 kids out of 5 but order it just to have some for the next day)...the issue was that we only received a small bowl of salad. A couple at a table next to us received the same amount of salad. I've seen pictures on reviews with the same bowl of salad for orders of 2-3 people. The salad was totally insufficient for all five of us and we had to order an additional one for which we paid of course. The chips were also not many...no more than 2 regular portions, barely enough for the kids, and we, the parents, didn't taste at lease one piece of them... They would have wanted some more 😀. Anyways... As a remark for the owner... it will help for people to know the quantities of sides before to order ...as it seems that no matter what one order, the platter for 3 or for 5 he receives the same amount of salad and chips. Apart of it...5 stars for taste...

Based on the reviews, our expectations were high, but the experience fell short. Due to the adjacent table smoking, we had to change our seats twice, and the waiter was unable to assist us. There was some confusion with the menu; the food displayed in pictures near the entrance was not available. We ordered a meat platter and intended to order a seafood platter, but it wasn't on the menu, and the waiter didn't understand our request. Consequently, we settled for squid stuffed with octopus. We also ordered lamb and a village salad. The chicken in the meat platter contained bones, which shouldn't have been the case. The squid stuffed with octopus was tasteless and overly chewy. For the price, the quality was very disappointing. Additionally, the loud conversations of Russian-speaking customers at the neighboring table made it difficult for us to talk. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this place due to the poor service and subpar...
