Degustation Grand menu for 1639. The service was extremely friendly and environment was top. The meal was good and fabulous plating and presentation. Here goes: I love fois gras but seeing it appear twice in the menu…..The first time was absolutely lovely with the buckwheat drink. The second time with the main felt a bit too much and the beef tenderloin was overly salty (salt soaked through the entire interior of meat) and cooking process could be improved (higher heat on the sear). The meat was rare inside and unenjoyable to eat with a strange taste but the al dente pasta was a joy, and enjoyed the soup with Fish, shrimp, tomato, coriander, walnut with coconut espume. It may be a bit salty for some but to me, was enjoyable. Not a fan of chicken terrine and menu felt a bit all over the place. Dessert I could not finish. The raspberry sorbet was overly sweet, and I am not a fan of goat milk cheesecake. Edit: 5 hours later, I had very bad stomach cramps and blame the poorly cooked tenderloin. I should not have eaten it. I think there is potential for a great restaurant through more training and collaborations with other chefs. One can never stop learning!...
Read moreThe food was interesting - I had the big degustation menu and I'm glad I've sampled all these dishes (also - I've tried everything others at our table ordered). The reason why I don't give 5 stars is that everything was good, but there was maybe just one item, that I would call great. The place is very nice, but I had an issue with the lack of light at our table. It was enough to eat, but not nearly enough to enjoy the visual side of the food. Most tables were much better lit than ours - but the darker lighting had its charms... The main issue for our whole table was that we were pretty disappointed with the waiter. He seemed annoyed right from the start and didn't pay much attention. I could get better service in a working class diner during rush hour.... Granted - as the evening went by, it was getting a bit better, but still not very good. It is possible it just wasn't his day, but I'd expect much better service in a restaurant of this price range. I may give this place another chance some day in the future, but right now I would not...
Read moreWe had the 5 course tasting menu. We expected fine dining, and the food didn't match our expectations by far. Tastes weren't balanced nor surprising. The veal tongue didn't look appealing at all (a slice of tongue on a plate) while I would expect a good restaurant to be able to make great dishes from difficult ingredients like tongue. The piece of lamb I got mainly consisted of fat and was drowning in approximately 3 tablespoons of mustard. The wine menu that was paired with our tasting menu consisted of 4 generous servings of fine but somewhat boring wines. Decor could have been better, some of it being a matter of taste I guess, but also lack of attention tot detail (like lamps that weren't properly attatched to the ceiling). Chairs weren't comfortable. Service was excellent though. Very attentive and friendly. Mushroom soup was nice but not special. So it wasn't all bad, but for the price the overall experience (and mainly the food!)should have been better. Therefore, a two...
