Beautiful Baroque Fpuntain in the.middle of the Vegetable Square.

Baroque Parnas Fountain in Brno One of the most beautiful Czech Baroque fountains can be found in Brno HomeThings to DoLandmarksUrban architectureBaroque Parnas Fountain in Brno The Baroque Parnas fountain is located in the heart of Brno, the largest Moravian city, and is the dominant feature of the central part of the square known as the Vegetable Market. The fountain was built at the end of the 17th century, replacing the previous Renaissance fountain adorned with an eagle. The fountain tank takes the form of a six-pointed star, into which water springs from three metal water spouts - idealized Baroque representations of dolphins. The fountain represents a cave and is richly decorated with many allegorical and mythical animals. In the middle of the fountain, there is a three-sided rocky cliff with an artificial cave in its lower part. In its centre stands the mythical hero Hercules, holding a club in his left hand and Cerberus, the three-headed dog that guarded the Underworld, on a chain in his right hand. The fountain also features an allegorical statue of Greece with a Wyvern (winged dragon), Babylonia with a crown at the right foot and a winged lion, and Persia with the Horn of Plenty, a crown and a bear. Beneath the top, there are stone plates with Latin text. On the top of the cliff, there is an allegorical statue of Europe. The entire sculptural decoration of the fountain bears typical features of Baroque sculpture such as flowing shapes and richness of decorative elements, including small animals, dragons and plant motifs enlivening the...

The Parnas Fountain is a Baroque fountain located in the center of Brno, Czech Republic. It was built in the early 18th century and is one of the most well-known and beloved landmarks in the city.

The fountain is located on a square called Náměstí Svobody (Freedom Square), which is the largest square in Brno. The centerpiece of the fountain is a sculpture of the Greek god Apollo, who is surrounded by other mythological figures, including the Muses and the Three Graces.

The Parnas Fountain is an important symbol of the city's cultural heritage and artistic history. It was designed by the Italian sculptor Johann Bernard Fischer von Erlach, who was known for his elaborate and ornate Baroque style. The fountain has undergone several renovations and restorations over the years, and remains a popular destination for tourists and locals alike.

In addition to its aesthetic beauty, the Parnas Fountain also has a practical purpose. It was originally designed to provide water to the people of Brno, and its intricate network of pipes and channels allowed water to flow from the fountain to nearby buildings and homes. Today, the fountain is still functional, although it is mainly used for...

Brno: The most visited sights of the city include the Špilberk Castle and fortress and the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul on Petrov hill, two medieval buildings that dominate the cityscape and are often depicted as its traditional symbols[citation needed]. The other large preserved castle near the city is Veveří Castle by Brno Reservoir. Another architectural monument of Brno is the functionalist Villa Tugendhat, which was added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 2001. One of the natural sights nearby is the Moravian Karst. The city is a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network and was designated a "City of...
