We stayed at the hostel for one night. Through Booking we received all the necessary information for arrival, and they also recommended a parking spot for a day. We were first advised to use Domini Parking, which is the closest to Hostel Eleven. Unfortunately, this parking lot doesn’t allow long-term stays (a day or more), as the fee is charged by the hour. Soon after, a hostel staff member recommended JD Parking, which turned out to be much cheaper if you leave the car for a full day or longer. JD Parking is about a 10-minute walk from the hostel.
At the hostel, we were welcomed by a friendly young man who checked us in, explained everything, and showed us to our room. What surprised us was that our room was a 3–4 minute walk away from the reception office. When the staff member went to show us the room, he closed the reception, and other guests who came to check in had to wait outside with their bags for about 10 minutes until he returned.
Our room itself was quite cozy — a double room with a double bed and a private bathroom. The hostel was clean, with towels and shower gel provided. In the morning we had breakfast in the shared kitchen, located in the part of the hostel with larger dorm rooms (6+ beds). The kitchen was neat and clean, with everything you need to prepare breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Spices, oil, tea, coffee, and water were all available for everyone.
The hostel is located right in the center of Brno, which is very convenient — you can enjoy the city’s atmosphere right from your room. The downside was the noise: around 5–6 in the morning, under our window, people (most likely homeless) were shouting, drinking, smoking, and vomiting 😂😂😂 At around midnight, when we went to sleep, it was also quite...
Read moreOther than the bed being comfortable and the location being awesome, there are not many positive things I can say about this hostel. First of all, there are two buildings that are associated with Hostel Eleven. The building my friends and I were put in was nothing like the pictures on the website. The door from the street was hard to open, it was loud when it opened and closed, and it was often left slightly open, therefore the security of the place was very questionable. There were no locked drawers in the room, just little safes that everyone in the room had access to. The bathrooms were mostly clean but we did not have a shower, just a bathtub with a telephone showerhead. There was no insulation and the walls were paper-thin so we could hear everything going on above us, below us, and outside. There were also children running around at midnight. The staff were not really helpful and did not offer us towels and when we asked for them we received tiny towels the size of a bath mat. There was the smallest common area that was freezing and had a tiny kitchen but there was nowhere to get comfortable or socialize with people other than in your bedroom. There are also no all-female dorms. In the mixed room my two female friends and I stayed in, they assigned us different bunks so we were supposed to sleep above or below men we didn't know, even though we could have shared at least one bunk bed between us. This place is cheap and so you are really only paying for a squeaky bed and a good location in the city. The only reason I am putting two stars is that the location was ideal and it could have been worse, but it could have...
Read moreThis is an important note for anyone staying at or checking into Hostel Eleven in Brno. Beware, that there is internal theft going-on. I stayed here for 2 nights, dates 09/07/2020 – 11/07/2020. My smartphone was stolen among other items. I left because of this. It happened during the night while I was sleeping. I woke to find my smartphone gone which was charging near my head (+ other personal items) The door was also locked. Now it was open. On the second night, two other guests were in the room. This time, one of the guests caught a stranger at the curtain, just at the head of his bed. He asked the man what he was doing. There was confusion, at which point the thief showed his key, talking loudly in Czech. I asked what was going-on, but he only spoke more loudly, -and created more confusion, and then left the room. The point is, the thefts will keep happening. Obviously with a key (while people are sleeping) you can do anything. Apparently, in talking to other people who are familiar with the place, there have been other very recent events like this. Why isn’t the hostel doing anything? changing keys.. Cameras. Anything. Please (at least) warn arrivals. Also, the reception is not staffed continuously. This is problematic because there is a lot of activity below the hostel at street level (there are a few bars), and strangers here can slip-in easily. Overall a painful experience. Very unfortunate, I loved Brno outside of this, the people very kind. The bottom line, it actually damages the city. One word:...
