Please read the reviews before booking and do not book more than one night here. I was here for two nights and the experience was... interesting, to say the least. What I was expecting to be a silly place to stay ended up being a damp, MOLDY place to stay. When I entered the building, it was much darker that I expected. Moving onto my room. There was a window on the door, and when the lights are on in the room, you can see much of what is going on. This wouldn't have bothered me, except the fact that I am a woman and would be changing in my room. When I went to the desk to ask about this, they reluctantly gave me some paper to cover up the window. Not after telling me "it's a bunker, what did you expect." One of the lights in the room could only be on if the bigger light was on. When I turned it on alone, all of the lights would flicker aggressively. On my second morning, I went to turn on the lights and I got shocked by the switches. There is also a framed photo of a communist leader in the room. Luckily his eyes were looking at the wall. The beds are iron cots with WW2 sleeping bags. This was fine at first but my sleeping bag was damp for the entirety of my second night. I was concerned about my health as everytime I turned on my side the pillow and sleeping bag had an odd smell. I ended up sleeping on my back for my whole stay. Also, since it is a bunker there is no sunlight. This made it very difficult to wake up in the morning. The first time I stepped foot into the bathroom, I was immediately greeted with the smell of mildew. The showers were freezing and on short timers. And when turning the water on, it smelled really badly of mildew. The sink was also broken when I got there, but I assumed it was for authenticity... The men's bathroom was much larger and had more showers and toilets. Now for the mold. Behind the hand towel there was mold growing. I started to have my allergies act up throughout my stay and had a cough for the few days after. When mentioning this to reception, they acknowledged the problem by saying its a continuous issue and they deal with it every other month. However, there is nothing being done to prevent it, like a dehumidifier or updating the drains or ventilation. I can't imagine why this hasn't been reported as an issue considering families with children stay here. All in all, I do not recommend staying here unless you like mold, mildew and cold showers. This was truly an experience, but you need to be mentally and physically prepared...
Read moreI have to say, that the stay at the 10-Z Bunker was a great experience. It left me with mixed feeling, I guess that´s expected. You don´t book stay at this place when you want to have a romantic trip to Brno (although we did). You book it when you want to have an adventure, experience to sleep in a place that you can usually see only in movies or visit it as a museum. The place is dark, one can feel really anxious since the rooms seem original, they are very cold (no heating) and you only have a sleeping bad as a cover. Wifi is in the room and it works well but you don´t want to spend a lot of time in the room or in the bunker. It´s REALLY cold. It´s not a criticism though. You can imagine how were soldies feeling when hiding there and it makes you think about how happy we are when there is no war. The rooms are interesting, you have a lot of requisities there. ||||I didn´t take a shower since we have been to wellness in the evening, but there was a big boiler and hot water from the tube of sink. Bathroom and toilets were clean and equipped. All good. ||||Breakfast is classic, I loved that it was really served in real old russian plates and glasses. Spoon and forks were from aluminum. I still remember the kitchenware because my great-grandmother used to use it. (I was born in 1991). Breakfast was simple but I liked it. You got all you need and the atmosphere.||||People were very helpful and nice. I think that it´s very important to have kind. smiley and helpful people at the frontdesk, so you feel secured in such a place. Even though services in czech republic suck usually (sorry but no sorry because its truth) , I can´t say a bad word about staff here. Very nice. ||||It´s 5 minutes walking from the heart of Brno.||||Overall, it was a very unique experience, but I only recommend it to undemanding men. Don´t expect comfort and yeah, go ahead and...
Read moreThis place is a cheap stay and a unique stay. If you’re looking for prime comfort look elsewhere. If you can handle basic amenities for a night or two then absolutely try it as it’s an experience. ||A few points worth making:|- there’s a 24 hour reception |- the Wi-Fi actually worked excellently|- showers are old skool but warm and powerful. You must pull a chain to keep the water running but I’ve had far worse showers in hotels. |- Bring your own toiletries as nothing provided.|- toilets were simple but always clean|- room was clean|- air is damp stuffy but not so bad that you can’t sleep in it etc (my clothes did smell mildly damp when I left)|- my room was surprisingly big and full of communist era paraphernalia.|- I’m tall (191cm) and the bed had a bar at the end but actually I just about fit in without it impeding me which was good.|- bed wasn’t too uncomfortable actually but then I do quite like slightly harder surfaces to sleep on.|- pillow was a bit rubbish, sleeping bag old but ok.|- Towel was old but fine. Hard to dry in the damp tunnel.|- bin in every room and I had one plug socket.|- Light not turned off in hallway at night and it came through the door glass window so you won’t get pitch black at night or anything close to it.|- key good and security code used to enter accommodation so it is secure.|- free self guided tour of the bunker included in price.|- breakfast included in price but I never made it as it ran only 8-10am|- check out 10am||It was great value to be honest and I expected far worse. I wouldn’t choose this place if you expect to spend any time in your room but if you’re out exploring a lot and just need a bed + you’re mildly adventurous then I...
