KRO Karlín — Restaurant in Prague

Stopped here for lunch and ordered the combo menu with roasted beef. The star of the dish is the flat bread that tasted really good with the right texture and consistency. I applauded the kitchen for trying to infuse some Asian influence in the menu and for the modern dishes, however, the combination of taste on the plate did not work. It was a classic mistake of having too much but they do not marry together. The sauerkraut was very tart overpowering the rather mellow meat, which should be the star of the dish. I was not entirely sure the other element that to me looked like a mayonnaise of some sort, but it clearly did not gel together with the beef. It was just too much. Came here with my girlfriend (who is from Prague) and her friends for some food and drinks on Saturday evening. The cocktails were fantastic and the food was amazing! The atmosphere was really unique with a good energy.

Unfortunately the service was not as good as the food. The staff missed 4 drinks off of our bill (I know it’s a strange complaint because free drinks, right?) but nobody seemed to know what was going on with our bill. The (I will assume) manager who was a young man with blonde hair looked pretty miserable and looked more interested in looking pretty than helping his staff. A lot of leaning on the bar! Perhaps this comes with experience.

ButterMilk Chicken stripes, that can be seen in the bottom right of the photo, was out of this world tasty. I never had such a tasty and juicy chicken before. I was also having quarter chicken with roasted potatoes. Which was nicely glazed and tasty but it was a little bit more cooked than ideal I would say. We also had caesar salad and it was good but nothing so special. I liked the fact that bacon and cheese was cut in a thick way. For cocktails I had mezcal highball, if you like mezcal and vermut you will love it. The only thing I didn't like about here is that waiters constantly remind you when your reservation will end.
