Positive things first: The restaurant with its interior design is really nice, the food tasted good and it was well presented. HOWEVER, the prices regarding the size of the dishes you get are way too high. We were 4 people and all of us were still very hungry after the six course menu, wich is supposed to be „shared“, once the restaurant only serves the „Degustation menu“ if there are at least 2 persons taking it. So you get one plate for 2 people but pay per person. And the price on the menu is designed per person and not per „6 plates“ as we were initially told. So turns out that per person it is 861 kč but you need to multiple it by 2 to get the actual price of the 6 dishes meant to be shared. Then every dish comes on one plate and you „share“. So 6 little plates for 1722 kč. But the size of the plate is so little that we struggled to share. We told at the end, after being surprised with the bill once we had read and been informed differently by the waitress, that: we found it very expensive and that the menu is highly misleading (not mentioning the fact that I tried to clarify previously my doubts and asked if the price displayed was for 2 people and the waitress said yes). We normally don’t leave a restaurant still hungry, but after exposing our astonishment regarding the final amount, the waitress told us for the 1st time that the price was actually per person and that she had never heard any other customer complaining about what we were complaining and implied that perhaps this type of restaurants was out of our league. After reading the comments I can say that this is definitely a lie and that it seems that more people already have had a similar experience. So unfortunately, I ask you to be careful when going here. The information is not transmitted correctly and when you confront them about the problem apparently the customer is the one to blame.
Definitely, a single...
Read moreOn the positive side: the pork belly was very tasty, the portion was quite big for the price and the side dish of clear noodles also very decent size. the interior is stylish and pleasant, not too crowded with tables which gives guests intimacy and privacy.
Unfortunately for a high-end restaurant like this one, a lot of "little things" made the experience less enjoyable. the waitress did not speak English, and whilst I understand Czech is the official language, I believe that high-end restaurant staff should at least be able to communicate in basic English. I don't doubt that somebody in the staff on a Saturday lunch would speak English, they could have assigned us another waiter but they didn't. the English menu, was poorly printed on a makeshift paper sheet, scorned, full of stains. the bathroom soap dispenser was not working. the chairs are beautiful and comfortable but incredibly loud. Everytime a guest moves, the dragging sound reasonates through the entire room. Why not put some floor protectors under the chair legs? last but not least, I waited for a good 5 minutes at the entrance, passed by waiters several times with no acknowledgement (not even a dobrý den) before someone finally came to sit me down.
I do hope the owner of Pru58 take these things into consideration and make some changes in the foreseeable future. I visited café Buddha regularly before it moved to Pru58, for their fusion menu was one of the...
Read moreWe had the displeasure of dining at PRU58, a supposed Asian restaurant in Prague, and I can confidently say it was a total disaster. The only redeeming qualities of the establishment were the design and the friendly waiter who greeted us upon arrival (two stars for that).
The service was abysmal. The waitress who took our order was clearly distracted and managed to get our order wrong, even after we explicitly repeated it to her. When I pointed out that she brought us the wrong dish, her response was that it was "almost the same" and offered to change the gravy in the kitchen. Unacceptable.
The kitchen fare was equally disappointing. The taste of the crab (Crab and Carry) was overpowered by the fried batter, same as for tempura sushi (Shippu Star) and when I brought this to the attention of the second waiter, his response was a nonchalant "Yeah, I know, but overall it was good, right". The same waiter then proceeded to forget about our cocktail order and only did not remembered it after 10 minutes of waiting and second reminder. We decided to cut our losses and pay the bill and leave. The final phrase from the second waiter was "Oh, we didn't do well today...". A gross understatement.
This was a very bad Friday dinner experience that left a bad taste in our mouths, both literally and figuratively. I would not recommend PRU58 to anyone and suggest finding a different establishment for your...
