Helmut — Restaurant in Aalborg Municipality

Unfortunately not the rating I was expecting to give Helmuth.

We booked a table a week previous, & we've been looking forward to it all week. When we arrived for 5 pm the place was packed. We waited at the door to be seated, but there was no waiter welcoming customers with bookings. After 5 minutes wait my husband went to the bar to ask one of the bar tenders. The girl came to seat us at the centre bar. She wanted to sit us at a place with barely any chair space to which my husband asked for the other side of the bar table which looked a little more roomy.

The girl came back with the menus & gave them to us & said someone will be coming shortly. We waited for 15 minutes & we saw no one on the floor taking care of tables, but only saw 3/or 4 bartenders. It's disappointing to be the one seeking the attention of a waiter.

We got a waiter's / or somelier's attention (I am not sure what his position was, as he didn't present himself to us). I asked whether we could order he said yes 'let me go get something to write on', which was a little annoying having to wait again.

The waiter came back & we inquired about the food. We were aware that the dishes were a little smaller, we expected starters size. We had in mind we wanted to get 2 cheese truffle gnocchis & 1 fries & 1 possible slider. When I asked how small they were, he excused the bartender that had given us the menus previously, saying she had no experience with the menu side. The whole scenario seemed to be so mismatched & very confusing. Why would the staff not be aware or know the menu of the place they work at? Especially in times when there are no waiters to be found.

The waiter explained that these were in fact tapas & that we shouldn't expect to really feel full after as it wasn't a dinner meal but small tapas or tasting menu. I immediately felt very dissatisfied with this. We said we wanted to order drinks instead. I ordered the Rose & my husband a beer. The rose was ok.

We decided to leave & pay for the drinks. The experience was very deflating.

What can I say!!! I was very, very disappointed with the food. We decided to have the libitum menu ( so-called concept they have all inclusive, food, wine, welcoming-drink). Don't let the pictures i took deceive you. The food wasn't tasty, including the wine. The desert was very dry with no ice cream/sorbet seriously 😐. And yes, we read the menu, but jezzz... alittle introduction to what we are about to eat wouldn't hurt. And yes, the waitresses did their best. I would give them that, so they get 2 🌟. I just think the owners of the restaurant would really figure out what exactly and how they want to do with the libitum concept cause to me it's not worth the time and money. If they consider serving cheap wine and food with no taste. Plus, whats with the bracelets? We paid for the libitum menu, can't see the point of having a bracelet on my arm. Its not like i am at a concert. Not very romantic i would say😒. The atmosphere was good, I will give them that, good deco and music 🎶 and cocktails 🙂. I have visited many different restaurants with different concepts, and I have been wanting and was excited to try out Helmuths dinning, unfortunately I was very disappointed. Please let the kitchen chef know that he/she needs to put more love in what he makes!

So if you want to go out, have a drink or two with good music that's your place. If you want a nice dinner with friends or as a couple definitely not the right...

The service was terrible. When we arrived, the waitress seemed unprepared and didn’t even know the gin varieties available. At the front of the restaurant, there was a big sign advertising “2 cocktails for 1,” but once inside we were told that offer didn’t apply that night because they were serving a Christmas menu. When we asked if we could have the Christmas food, we were told it wasn’t possible since we hadn’t booked in advance.

To make things worse, after we finally ordered cocktails, the waitress came back with the payment terminal asking us to pay upfront for drinks that hadn’t even arrived, explaining that some other customers had left without paying. Overall, it was a very disappointing and unprofessional experience.
