Having enjoyed "julefrukost - christmas breakfast" before Christmas 2009, 2010 and 2011 thoroughly with my friend I had no problem recommending this restaurant to my father in law and his girlfriend. We went there this evening, at 1800, having booked a table for 6, including 2 children. We have had a very good experience with this restaurant in the past - but what a turn to the worse this restaurant has taken - a sure as heck - tourist trap!
Staff was resting outside, having a smoke, before a busy evening and few customers had arrived. We were sat down at a table in the empty restaurant, no chair offered for the toddler outside a few blankets to raise her up to the table. We had to ask to order drinks because the staff was outside bantering before a hardy evening!
We ordered the apotekersnitzel, duck, biksemad and vegetable lasagna for the children. All execpt the lasagna was a total disappointment. The snitzel was dry with the coating falling off, served with boiled potatoes and sauce that was surely from a packet. The duck was overcooked, dry with a lighter sauce from the packet and some dry sugared potatoes. The biksemad drowned in the same sauce served with pickles certainly bought from the store. The lasagna was to our surprise rather tasty.
The dessert accompanying the duck was a "classic apple cake" - classic my a%&&. It was muesli on some store bought apple marmalade with whipping cream and some jam! What a let down.
This restaurant has fallen into a slump. The food was such a let down that it ruined the evening. To the cook and staff at "lilla apoteket" - you work at an historic restaurant that has previously been highly appreciated by its patrons....
Read moreI had the absolute pleasure of dining at Det Lille Apotek during my recent trip to Copenhagen, and I can genuinely say it was one of the highlights of my visit.
From the moment I stepped inside, I felt like I’d been transported back in time. The place has this charming, old-world vibe—dim lighting, antique paintings, cozy wooden furniture, and the kind of warmth you can’t fake. It’s not just a restaurant, it’s a slice of Danish history (seriously, it’s been around since 1720!).
I ordered the traditional smørrebrød to start—three types of herring, each with a unique flavor, served with dense rye bread, onions, and butter. I’m usually a little hesitant about herring, but this was on another level. Then I had the roast duck with red cabbage and caramelized potatoes, and I still think about it. Perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and such generous portions.
The staff were so kind and attentive, happy to explain anything on the menu and even gave a bit of background on the history of the place. Apparently Hans Christian Andersen used to eat here often, which made me feel like I was in good company.
It’s not a budget spot, but for the atmosphere, service, and authentic Danish cuisine, it’s worth every krone. I’d 100% recommend it to anyone visiting Copenhagen—just make a reservation, because it...
Read moreDORTE and her team provided great service tonight as 3 friends from our 2024 Balkans tour reunited. My friends took me here to experience Danish comfort food in a 300 year old restaurant. We enjoyed a traditional open face shell with a creamy chicken sauce. Also smoked fish on top of fried plaite stuffed with baby shrimp sitting on a piece of toast. Local beer and sparking water provided great beverages. For dessert we shared a rhubarb trifle topped with homemade whipped cream that is so good that you will love this even if you truly hate rhubarb. Our rum ball was dark chocolate infused with rum. This rum Ball traditionally is what all bakeries here do to take all the leftovers, roll them in a ball and disk k. Rum. We enjoyed this traditional venue with several small rooms decorated with art, photos., paintings and vintage books. Check out table #5 known to be the reserved fav table of Hans Christian Anderson of fairy tale fame. The indoor booths and tables are dkmwhar accessible. Outdoor covers tables are accessible. Three steps to enter this historically...
