We ordered a salad to start and it was nice. The waitress brought us free bread and olives to go with the salad. It was good
Our second course was the Pizza Italiano. It was like a sea of cheese with little rafts of bolognese.
Our third course was a delicious penne allarrabiatta. It came with a large mildly spicy red pepper which we had the opportunity ourselves (because we work there apparently)… just kidding. The waitstaff was A++. They brought two jars with the pasta- one with a delectable garlic oil and a spicy pepper oil. Naturally the dish was not spicy (even with the red pepper which we cut ourselves). The spicy pepper oil really packed a punch.
I don’t know if it was allowed… but we spiced up the pizza with it as well because we thought it might be rude to ask for ketchup.
I’d also like to comment on the wine. Nice but simple selection of glasses and bottles of wine (only one you could get a half bottle). We got the barbera. Good price for the quality. Didn’t break the bank… just a few cracks and my partner’s stomach lining.
Of note- they have ample inside and outside seating. Although I was tricked to believe a reservation was required. It was in fact not required. Since it was a bit chilly, the had heaters. Luckily the heaters were not turned on because my partner smashed his elbow on the heater no less than 8 times while trying to cut the red pepper on the pasta. APPARENTLY, he works there. On the table was a little plastic placemat. Didn’t really remind me of Italia. They wouldn’t do that.
This is the oldest Italian restaurant in the world. Just kidding. It’s the oldest Italian restaurant in Copenhagen- it says so on the little plastic placemat for you sloppy little tourists who come to trough for feeding.
Overall. Not bad. Would...

I had the pleasure of dining at Ristorante Italiano, and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming atmosphere. The decor is cozy and charming, reminiscent of an authentic Italian trattoria, immediately setting the tone for a memorable evening.
The menu offers an impressive variety of traditional Italian dishes, all crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients. I started with the bruschetta, which was perfectly seasoned and had just the right amount of crunch. For the main course, we opted for the homemade pasta with salmon and the traditional Lasagna a la Bolognese—a true delight for the senses. The flavors were rich and well-balanced, making every bite a pleasure.
The service was nothing short of outstanding. Agatha, who attended to our table, provided a five-star experience—attentive, knowledgeable, and always ready to recommend the perfect dish or wine pairing. Her professionalism and warmth truly elevated the dining experience. Speaking of wine, the selection was impressive, featuring a well-curated range of Italian wines that perfectly complemented the meal.
To top it all off, try the delicious desserts. It was the perfect conclusion to an already exceptional meal—creamy, light, and bursting with flavor.
Overall, Ristorante Italiano exceeded my expectations. It's clear that the chefs and staff are passionate about delivering an authentic Italian dining experience. The combination of delicious cuisine, impeccable service, and a cozy atmosphere makes this a must-visit when in Copenhagen. Whether you're a local or a visitor, I highly recommend giving this gem a try—you won’t be...
Read moreIt's probably a great place off season, but in the summer we were greatly disappointed. We prebooked a table days in advance, and arrived 5 minutes before our schedule time. The main waiter treated us like kettle. We were placed in the basement, just next to the kitchen entry (in the hallway). Twice during my meal, I was hit in the head by a waiter carrying food. Our primary waiter apologised, but they where under staffed and she could only fix so much. For our main course, we ordered pizza, since it's part of their heritage. There is no other way to describe it than "thrown together by a drunk sailor". My pizza topping was obviously just dropped by a hand swinging by, and most of it was on one side. The dogh was uneven, and not in the good rustic way. There is no care or love in the food preparation. I have had pizza roadside in Italy in tiny restaurants that is sevreal classes above this in regards to quality and love. Since pizza is a simple dish, but great pizza is hard to make I would stay away from this place. The quality and experience is far from the price you pay. And don't bother booking in advance, they treat you like a fast food restaurant anyway. There are so many great pizza places in copenhagen, this place only rides on history...
