My visit to Sporvejen was a delightful surprise during my recent trip to Denmark. Tucked away in a bustling corner of the city, this charming burger bar is a must-visit. The place has a truly unique ambiance, an absolute delight with their cool, retro-themed interiors, which reminded me of a time gone by. But we chose to sit outside, basking in the cozy warmth of their heat lamps - a perfect setting for a late evening meal.

The star of the evening was the signature cheese-bacon burger. Oh, what a treat! The balance of flavors was just right and the quality was top-notch. The price was exactly as you'd expect for such a delicacy, not too steep, which made the experience all the more enjoyable.

His English was impeccable, making communication a breeze. He was exceedingly friendly and truly committed to ensuring we had a great dining experience. The first time I discovered this burger place was more than ten years ago, back when I was a student in Copenhagen. I had already eaten dinner that evening, but the charm of the old tram caught my eye, and I decided to give it a try anyway. I ordered a burger — and ended up finishing every last bite. That’s how tasty it was. The burgers are juicy, flavorful, and generously portioned. On top of that, the prices are surprisingly reasonable for such quality.

What makes this place truly unforgettable is its setting. The restaurant is built inside a beautifully restored vintage tram, giving it a nostalgic and almost cinematic feel. Sitting inside feels like traveling back to the 1960s or 70s. The worn leather seats, retro lighting, and narrow aisles create an atmosphere that’s both cozy and full of character.

Every time I come back here, I can’t help but feel a wave of memories from my student days in Copenhagen — such a beautiful and meaningful time in my life. This place always brings back that warmth.

Since then, I’ve returned many times. I’ve brought my close friends, my girlfriend, and even my parents. Everyone loved it. I’ve tried every single burger on the menu, and honestly, I haven’t found one I didn’t like....

I think the best word to describe Sporvejen is "underwhelming". The atmosphere is really cool, you dine inside of a train car or outside under shade. The food is a good portion size for paying 100 - 200 dkk for dinner. However, the burger and fries lacked flavor of any sort. I do not think they used salt or seasoning in the hamburger or fries. The hamburger has no fat inside to give it a good "mouth feel" so it ends up just feeling like unseasoned meat while you're eating (From US, so our food is really unhealthy, so just take that as a * while reading). I asked for chili on the burger and they just poured a spoonful of beans and hot sauce on the burger (which maybe is a Danish thing) which was really underwhelming. Lastly, when I first arrived I took out my water bottle and was going to drink some before eating but the waitress informed me I couldn't have any outside drinks. It is what it is, but it's still rather irritating considering dinner is ~150 dkk, the food is boring and the service is like such.
