At the end of an all-day tour of Copenhagen, we wanted to eat something warm on the way out of Kristiania. It was my girlfriend's birthday that day and she wanted pizza, so we drove around the pizza places in the area, but most of them didn't even have a table. Then we stopped by here. It was a bit surprising that it was empty. I was surprised by the concept, as everything smelled of delicious Indian food, but they have everything from burgers to pizza. I thought of several menus, in my friend's case (pescatarian) there was no question she went for the tuna pizza, I asked for a lamb pizza as I had never seen anything like it anywhere. We got chilli with the pizzas, and what I think is the dill yoghurt sauce used for shawarmas. Well, it's not Italian, but we didn't expect it: both, both were very good. I have never seen a more colourful, highly saturated pizza than the lamb pizza. We had a very nice meal - And not only was it nice, it was delicious and filling. By the time our food was ready the place was packed, so I had the pleasure of seeing both the huge portions of Indian food and the massively stuffed gyros. In my opinion, especially at Copenhagen prices, it's cheap and delicious. Thank you for the experience from here in Hungary, if I go there again, I will definitely stop by to...
Read moreI was hoping to order veg kofta spinach Curry in this diner but they had sold out (by lunchtime!) However they were happy to add spinach to the sabzi mix and it came with basmati rice. Everything was super tasty but I realised by the time I got to the bott of the rice that it had been cooked in copious amounts of ghee. I failed to ask if it was suitable for vegans. Likewise, the oil seeping out of the curry gravy was probably ghee. As I was leaving I found someone who understood English better and they confirmed the rice had been cooked in ghee. We returned a few days later for my husband's dinner. He chose a pita shwarma (49 dkk) and I could smell cloves and other fragrant spices in the meat. The salad in it was fresh and one was sufficient for his dinner. Some of the tastiest food we've eaten in Denmark. No - we haven't been to Noma. I can't justify paying that much for a meal, no matter how much skill is involved in its preparation and presentation. Tasty, honest food here with lots of...
Read moreDark Friday night, I need to push my bike towards the metro station in Christianshavn. A warm splash of kebab air greeted us upon entrance. After an acceptable wait of 40 seconds I was rowed into ordering my first course of a chicken durum. No questions asked, fast execution accompanied by a fresh bottle of delicious Yayik Ayran. While my friends who ordered biryani, jealousy stare at me feasting down my durum, I ask for chilli sauce which is promptly brought to my table. After stomping down the meat wrap I ordered, my hunger expands and an additional serving of mozzarella sticks becomes necessary. In the mean time my desperate friends are relieved as their food is being brought to the table simultaneously to me receiving my well deserved mozzarella sticks with an extra chilli mayo on the house. The fat pig that I am I manage to pump these down before my friends even finish their meal, which leaves me with a cocky smile until the rest of their dinner is finished. Would...
