Buckle up. If you don’t feel like reading all this, just know I do not recommend. ||Hotel Maritime wouldn’t allow check-in before 3pm. Not that they couldn’t, they wouldn’t. Ok not a big deal. But the hits just kept coming. ||The cleaning ladies vacuumed and mopped the bar/cafe at 2:30 pm while patrons had food and beverages. Not appropriate nor hygienic. Totally bizarre to me. ||The room doesn’t have a tv. I don’t care but I bet others do. There are plenty of outlets but none of them -not one of them- is in a location where you can set your devices to charge. They just had to hang from the cord. ||There are no sheers on the window. You either have the whole glass window exposed or the drapes blocking out all the light. So either no privacy or total darkness. ||The lights wont turn on. When I went to call the front desk, there was no phone. Wild. ||The room is small, which I don’t have a problem with but the only place to put my suitcase is in the bathroom. My parents thought I was exaggerating but when they saw my room they said they fully understood why my suitcase was in the bathroom. There is actually more floor space in the bathroom than the bedroom. ||I checked in at 3 and by 4 I was trying to stave off a panic attack because I am really uncomfortable. It’s not a nice room.||Update: the front desk girl came upstairs - there is a master switch but she had to throw the switches multiple to get the lights to turn on. ||More updates over the stay:||The cafe only has skim milk and oat milk. ||The bedroom art is large photographs of celebrities. I took mine off the wall because I didn’t want Ronaldo Luis and Muhammad Ali staring at me while I slept. ||To be fair, I slept well the first night. And was then awakened by construction across the street before 7:30am. ||The elevator only holds one person and if more than one person get in, it can break and they have to call someone. Ok it’s an old building, whatever. Their solution is to turn the elevator off between midnight and 7 am. But it gets better, the elevator is turned off because there is no staff at all between midnight and 7am. As a result, my 75-year-old parents were told they were on their own to carry their luggage downstairs. Again, understandable, old buildings don’t always have elevators but to be told there would be no assistance????||My father uses a cane and has trouble with stairs so there’s no question of him carrying luggage. We are paying far too much for these rooms to have zero service. To be clear, this isn’t like a discount hotel. The rates are comparable to other hotels in the area. We didn’t move hotels because they had already charged us. ||If you think you can tolerate all this for a good price, you’ll be disappointed. In fact, now that I think of it, if you had told me it was hostel before I arrived I would have expected the bare bones and been like ok. But it’s not a hostel and not a hostel price. ||Do...
Read moreThe staff was very friendly and hotel was clean. They have a nice bar/restaurant inside. The biggest question about these cheap hotels are 1. Would I stay here again and 2. Is it clean. Yes to both. I wouldn't stay here an entire trip, but for a night or two it's totally fine.
Central located to walk to the canal restaurants, shops, etc. Also a short walk to the M20 train that goes through the city/to the airport.
I would rate this a 2.5 star hotel by standard ratings used in the US. A step up from a decent motel 6 because of the restaurant and decor, but not quiet 3 star hotel like a Holiday Inn.
We chose this based on airmiles rewards for a 1 day stop to just check out Copenhagen before heading to Switzerland. I checked and it is the 2nd cheapest hotel in the area, next closest hotels are 25% more a night. WakeUp hotel nearby is newer/nicer for a little bit less, but we couldn't book there with our airline.
Some drawbacks are thin walls, but everyone was mostly quiet and respectful. There can be a strong sewer smell at times for units on the backside of the hotel if the window is open, but the trade off is no street noise. Water pressure is extremely low when trying to get hot water, but this seemed common throughout the city, and the shower has a handle/hose so it's not to big of an issue. They also need trash bins in every room, we didn't have a single one in the bathroom or bedroom.
I think some of these negative reviews are unrealistic. It's a cheap hotel for the area that's clean. Denmark is generally very safe and so is this hotel. Key card access only at night and to all the rooms. We walked at 3am to get food and didn't feel unsafe at all. No drug addicts or homeless people. If you know anything about Scandinavian culture, they take care of their people,...
Read moreAs an experienced traveler who frequently stays at hotels around the world, I have never encountered anything as shocking and unprofessional as my recent experience at this hotel. After checking in and paying in full for a confirmed five-night stay, my son and I spent two nights in our room. On the third day, when we returned in the evening and used our key to enter the room, we found it completely emptied. All of our belongings, including sensitive items like passports, credit cards, and electronics, had been carelessly thrown into filthy, torn garbage bags and stored in a hotel employee’s area, where anyone could easily access them. The hotel staff never informed us of any issues, failed to check the system before taking action, and lacked any communication about what was happening. Despite having a confirmed reservation for five nights and paying in full upon check-in, the staff acted without any verification. I raised the issue through Expedia (booking agent), and while I was initially met with denial from the hotel management, they later acknowledged the situation but dismissed it as a minor mistake, showing no real concern for the seriousness of what occurred. While I understand that mistakes can happen, the level of negligence and lack of basic customer service is unacceptable. I have images and videos documenting the entire situation, which further prove the extent of the unprofessional treatment we received. This type of treatment is not only unacceptable but also dangerous for guest security and privacy. I strongly advise others to avoid this establishment, as their total disregard for guest well-being and professionalism...
