Had an early reservation at O12 today as I wanted an early start to explore the city.
Ending up ordering the O12 Plate, green tea, and orange juice. The O12 plate was underwhelming as three of the items were just cheese/butter. The salmon that was provided was a small strip, no bigger than the salmon on a salmon nigiri. The chia pudding was nice, but lasted only three-four spoons. The sausage was nicely cooked and loved the spicy mustard (I think). Avocado smash was alright but I personally found it to be too small. Bacon was good, can never mess up bacon. And the scrambled eggs were made just right, only needed a bit of salt and pepper, which was provided at the table.
The green tea was average and served in the purple clay teapot. After finishing the tea, I was surprised to find that there were no tea leaves inside the teapot, which means it was steeped elsewhere and transferred into the teapot. Kind of defeats the purpose of using a purple clay teapot.
Orange juice was nice. Advertised as freshly squeezed and it was served in a tall skinny glass bottle, enough for two glasses.
Overall, as the most expensive dish on the menu at 195kr, the O12 Plate was quite underwhelming. Most places serve toast and butter as complimentary, but here it seems like it was used to just fill up the dish. If that was the intention, should’ve just used smaller plates. Also, would’ve liked the tea leaves to be inside the teapot so that it would’ve been possible to have a second steep, as traditionally, the second steep of tea leaves is usually best in flavor; having only one steep isn’t fair to the premium tea leaves. For these reasons, I gave the food rating four stars. I will find a chance to go back and try a different dish as this could’ve just been a one off.
The service overall was okay, but I gave it five stars because one of the waitresses was very attentive and always checking in if everything was okay and that was much appreciated. The reason the service was okay was because upon arriving, there were four empty two-seater tables. Instead of putting me at a seat at least one table away from existing diners (any three of the four available tables), I was sat in the only two-seater table that was between two parties. Probably just an oversight on...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I visited the Osterbro eatery on 8 March and certainly would not be going back again. My girlfriend has gluten intolerance and a nut allergy. We don't usually find this to be a problem though given the options on the menu in places and being able to substitute items quite easily. We were also assured this was no problem here as we mentioned the allergies on the way in, and again when we ordered our food.
My girlfriend ordered avocado on gluten free bread, something which should be very simple to do. When this came, it was on regular bread, so had to be sent back to be re-done. Once it was brought out again, it was on gluten free bread, though this bread then contained a whole load of nuts. My girlfriend only noticed this as she went to take a mouthful. If she had taken this, we would for sure have spent at least a weekend in hospital, if not likely much worse. Staff didn't seem to realise how severe this issue was that they had caused. The food then had to be taken away again, to then just be served plain avocado. They were reluctant to take away my food for it to be brought out at the same time as hers, something which would be the bare minimum to be expected.
When we complained about the food, staff offered 15% off the bill. Not least for only being able to serve half of what was ordered, but again, not recognising the severity of serving someone with a nut allergy fairly large hazelnuts. They brushed this off almost to get us out of the restaurant as soon as possible.
We reluctantly paid, but we would not be going back here, and we would advise anyone that also has any sort of allergy to avoid at all costs as they clearly don't have the processes in place for...
Read moreWe decided on this place based on the reviews. Contrary to our previous experiences with high star-ed restaurants in Copenhagen, this place was complete opposite. Its not good, its the BEST. I don't know who is there in the kitchen but they are definitely making magic happen. We were a huge group and we all ordered a myriad of food dishes. Everyone enjoyed their food and I can only tell my own personal experience. I had ordered porridge because I was feeling abit under the weather. If anyone can make a boring dish like porridge taste amazing, they are doing something good in their lives. My porridge wasnt salty or sweet but had a little feeling of both, it was perfectly balanced. The Hazelnut milk which was used for the porridge blended excellently with the apple compote. I wasn't eating anything that had a lot of flavor in it but it made me feel warm inside like something your grandmother would make you on a rainy day. I had also taken the homemade hot chocolate and it was just perfect. Again not too sweet but sweet enough to make you feel content. I had decided to taste the pancakes but ended up eating half of my husband's because they were that GOOD. Its a shame we went there just before leaving Copenhagen or else it would be our regular brunch place for all the days we would have been there. If I go back to Copenhagen again, this place would be one of the reasons. With lots of love and gratitude 💕
Btw, the people over there were sweet enough to give us a table for 10 people on a Saturday morning as a same day booking. So not just good food but...
