I initially wrote the below review to their contact email as my wife and I both have or do work in hospitality and I thought they would appreciate the feedback privately. However after a week of silence with no reply, it’s time to review it on this forum. We went to the restaurant on the 21st August 2024. There were max 4 or 5 tables with guests all night. There was a waiter who greeted us and he was great at the start. We got the menus, ordered food and wine and up to getting our starters everything was good. He placed our wine in a wine cooler two meters from the table. Then he disappeared (maybe to help in the kitchen?) and a waitress was the one serving the tables. We got our main courses and my rib eye was completely raw (ordered medium). It took ages to get the waitresses attention and there were still only a few tables with guests. When we did she took the steak back. It didn't return for over half an hour. By then, my wife had finished her main course. The steak was dried out and tough. I had to get up, walk to the wine, pour some, then put it back in the cooler a couple of times as the waitress didn't take care of it. Maybe she's just started or is untrained? I don't mind pouring my own wine but maybe put it next to our table? It seemed like everyone else had to wait ages for food as well. The only good thing I can say about the evening was that the wine was great and the wine list is impressive. But service and food quality were awful. The waiter took the steak off the bill which I appreciate, but that couldn't save a disappointing evening. One small thing also was that the ceiling lights were on full power all night. Didn't feel very cosy and we thought it was strange when they have lights on the tables. The whole concept seems a bit disjointed, and this place doesn’t really know what it is or what it’s trying to achieve. Unfortunately I can’t recommend at all and recommend you look at recent reviews as this place has changed hands...
Read moreThe biggest thank you to the staff at San Souci!
My husband and I held our wedding reception and dinner at San Souci and couldn’t be happier with how the day turned out.
First of all, the staff were incredibly helpful during the planning process. They gave us clear options and worked with us to make sure it would turn out as we envisioned. During the reception and dinner, the staff made sure our guests had enough food and drink without being intrusive and gave explanations on all the food and drink served. Grade A service.
Secondly, the food was phenomenal. We weren’t sure what our menu would be since they had just reopened after Christmas break, but there’s a reason we called up San Souci for the occasion: all our guests were over the moon about every course and the wine pairings. We were especially keen on the blood orange panna cotta.
Lastly, the staff did a wonderful job of setting the atmosphere. Our party started during the end of lunch service and went into dinner service but at no time did we feel at odds with the rest of the dining room. We felt like we had our own space to celebrate but the separation was not stuffy or overly formal. The lighting and table setting were also perfectly cosy but formal enough for the occasion.
I also cannot neglect to mention the location itself—a short walk from Frederiksberg Rådhus and in a corner plot with large windows looking directly onto the street. We were seated with direct access to the windows and got plenty of sunlight during the day, which was a huge plus for us. Other restaurants would have put our event in a basement, which would have really killed the mood! San Souci really knows how to host, and I am so glad we worked with them for our special day.
Again, a big big thank you to San Souci for helping us entertain our friends and family on this very memorable occasion. You have...
Read moreI recently had lunch at this restaurant and the experience was fantastic. The weather was perfect for sitting outside, offering a nice view of a busy street without being too noisy. The service was exceptional—very kind and informative. The restaurant itself was spotless and well-organized, and even the toiletries were of good quality.
The food was delightful. I ordered the ribeye with fries, asparagus, and bearnaise sauce. The meat was juicy and perfectly seasoned, the fries were crunchy and salty, and the bearnaise sauce was spot on. The asparagus, however, was a bit too tough and had an unusual flavor that I didn't particularly enjoy. For dessert, I had the citrus mousse, which was almost perfect. I would just prefer if the rhubarb part was a bit more smashed or liquefied.
We also tried the chicken smørrebrød, which was very good. The comté cheese added a nice touch, but the portion size could be slightly increased.
Overall, a great dining experience with delicious food and excellent service. I would definitely...
