The food is FANTASTIC, we loved the Cardamom Croissant number. However, the service we received was inexplicably cruel from one employee. I requested an allongèe espresso which is very common internationally, especially in the Pacific Northwest where I worked as a skilled barista for 10 years (we actually just refer to it as "run through in a small cup".) I understand if a food establishment doesn't offer that. No problem. Instead of normally explaining to me that Hart Bakerij doesn't offer allongèe , the young woman literally jumped down my throat and said " NO. I will not. We take our coffee very seriously here" "Anyways I don't know how to even do that and it would be too bitter anyways" She was extremely cold, cut me off while I was speaking and was disgustingly condescending. 😂 we take our coffee really seriously, right so that's why you think it would be too bitter? If you can't pack a shot properly then yeah it would be. While the other LOVELY young lady who appeared visibly uncomfortable at her co- worker's rudeness was packing our pastries, the mean girl ran out from behind the counter and started hugging and fawning all over a male friend that walked in and made us feel like we were in the way. It was brutal. Absolutely brutal. Will never be back based on that cruelty. Clearly prejudiced towards Americans. Except we aren't American. We are Canadians spending our hard earned money that contributes to your wages....
Read moreUsually do not write reviews but was compelled to due to its EPIC quality. Sausage roll: seriously one of the best pastries I have ever eaten savory or sweet with the perfect amount of fennel and spices. Spandauer: where is the strawberries or blueberries? Was not needed as it was perfectly crispy with the most AMAZING custard, perfectly simple perfected. Coconut croissant thingamajig: Despite its "busy" look it worked marvelously. I wished they offered their cheesecake by the slice but oh well, next time. First visited here back in 2019 and again in 2022 and laughed out loud because this joint has Tartine Bakery DNA written all over it, which by the way is only a 30 minute drive from me. So when in Copenhagen: Hart Bageri for pretty much everything your stomach can hold and is also very close to one of my of faves...Osterberg Ice Cream (random, sorry), Meyers Bageri for their cinnamon roll with chocolate on top and Juno the Bakery for their Cardamom Bun. FYI...I have pillaged many bakeries in San Francisco Bay Area, NYC, Tokyo, Copenhagen and several places in France (Grain de Vanille for the WIN!) and Hart Bageri fits in top 3 in my book. Great bakery, lovely staff in a great city :) Y'all make leaving Copenhagen soul crushing,...
Read moreI could totally sense that this was a more than your ordinary bakery with sad soggy cinnamon rolls and average danish with overwhelming mysterious jam. First of all, they have an International crowd, this is a hipster place and you are likely to see instagrammers around or wanna-be instagrammers at least. But the nice thing is, because this bakery is actually good at what they bake, it is not exactly empty hype. I was very upset that pistachio croissants were out because we were late so I tried something different with peach and it was delicious. My only input would be to lose the cookie dough on top, it is unnecessary. However this might be a seasonal flavor. The prices are higher than your average bakery but again this is Copenhagen and prices are lit so even if you are buying carbs, you gotta pay. Their sourdough bread is tasty and you can sample it, workers are super nice and they speak great English. You can try to find a seat but it will be almost impossible because the place is tiny! You can also get coffee which I didn't but...
