Restaurant Umashi — Restaurant in Odense Kommune

Honestly, this was a very mixed experience… For instance, of the two yakitori appetizers I ordered, the shrimp were delicious, whereas the beef “meatballs” (more like tiny, shapeless bits) were dry and rubbery. As for their special sushi mix, the nigiri really didn’t taste very fresh, and the ones with the small shrimp tasted outright strange - maybe it was due to some strange glazing, not sure. The roll with crab meat was also quite unpleasant: mushy, strange texture, weird flavor. The Sake Maki roll (sashimi salmon, avocado and cucumber) was actually quite good, particularly due to the freshness of the sashimi, so I don’t understand why they couldn’t use the same fish for the nigiri… as for the price, with a soft drink, it came down to a total of ca. €45… Sushi restaurants are obviously pricey everywhere, regardless of the country, and Denmark is quite expensive in general. However, I still feel this place is overpriced, given the inconsistency and lack of freshness of some of the ingredients. The portion sizes are ok, and they make everything look good on the plate, but I prefer quality in terms of actual taste....

Friday 25.feb.2022 Very sorry to reduce my stars but i guess everyone deserve a special birthday. despite reserving the table and mentioning that is my boyfriend’s birthday the table was not ready. they hand the dishes and a flag to us to set the table with zero apologetical manner. the cut of the sushis was not as perfect and they also added one piece from another kind of sushi to my order to be able to count it as 15 sushi. the taste of the food was as perfect as the other times but the service and attitude of the staffs was tremendously downgraded and i am sorry for giving these stars. 23.April.2021 I have been to this perfect Sushi place for my birthday and i cannot be fair enough about this place and its food with my words. I am more than happy to recommend this place to others who wants to taste a perfect sushi. +waiting time very short +staffs very fast and polite +we reserved a table for two so i do not know if it is a must to do +cozy place to sit and enjoy the perfect...

It used to be that they had amazing food and decently priced. Today I ordered takeaway the duck with sweet potatoes and I have rarely eaten food that’s this bad. The duck was covered in fat, absolutely disgusting and the sweet potatoes were old and overly salty. If I had eaten this in the restaurant it would have been returned asap.

There are way better places to eat in Odense. Sadly they seem to not care anymore about the quality of food they serve.

They did contact me, apologized for the quality and said they would look into it. They also offered me a gift card. I appreciate them taking this step and admitting it was a mistake...
