As a local business owner in Punta Cana, I've dealt with my fair share of challenging customers. Unfortunately, my experience at Venezia Pizzeria today left a sour taste.
My uncle and I visited for lunch, and our waitress, Saori, was delightful - shy but extremely friendly. We ordered pizzas and beverages, and our playful banter with Saori was met with laughter and smiles.
However, things took a turn when Rosanna, the manager, abruptly intervened, accusing us of bullying Saori. We were taken aback, as our interactions were lighthearted and respectful. Saori herself seemed comfortable, laughing along with our jokes.
After Rosanna's unwarranted reprimand, she disappeared to the back, and Saori never returned. A group of male staff members emerged, positioning themselves near our table, which felt like an attempt to intimidate us.
Undeterred, we finished our pizzas and ordered a Grand Marnier. The new waitress informed us it was unavailable and offered Cointreau instead. However, the bottle was nearly empty, and one of the staff members attempted to secretly refill our glasses with Triple Sec.
I caught onto the deception and watched as he became uncomfortable, struggling to squeeze the last drop from the empty bottle. The drink was eventually served, and to their credit, they charged us half price for one of the drinks.
The pizzas were delicious, but the poor service and questionable practices overshadowed our experience. As a business owner, I value transparency and respect. Venezia Pizzeria fell short.
I'm not saying that I'll never be back here because the pizza is really good, but every time I go from now on I will ask for Rosanna and if she's...

This was hands down the worst pizza experience I’ve ever had — not just in Bávaro, but anywhere in the world.
We ordered a prosciutto and arugula pizza, and what we got was a disgusting, stale, dried-out slice of something that should’ve been thrown out days ago. The dough was hard and dry, as if it had been sitting out on a shelf for 72 hours. The cheese smelled rotten — I honestly think it was moldy — and it was half-melted under a second layer of cheaper cheese, clearly nuked in a microwave. The arugula was limp and dead, like it had been suffocating in a plastic bag for a week. The prosciutto tasted off, with a suspicious odor that made us both stop after one bite.
My friend and I immediately said we weren’t eating this, and more importantly — we weren’t paying for spoiled food. The floor manager came out and aggressively told us we had to pay. We said, fine, call the police. He then “graciously” offered us a 15% discount but insisted we still pay for this inedible garbage. We asked him to try a bite in front of us — if it was “so good” — and he flat out refused, even though he claimed to have made it himself. He then started yelling at us.
The whole place is miserable: plastic tables, foul smell, suffocating air, and absolutely disgusting food. This is not a restaurant — it’s a scam.
Minus one star....
Read moreThe food here is good. The pizzas are especially baked to perfection with a thin crust. The pastas are mostly alright. They do not have most of the items on the menu at the restaurant around 1PM, so not sure what's happening with that. We tried the place for lunch on two different days and had the same experience. It's a good place for the price point and is open on times when other restaurants are closed. The staff isn't too friendly and warm that took away from the experience. The place does not have a fan or any kind of ventilation which is frustrating on a hit day. They do charge only 10% tax which is a relief when other restaurants charge 28%, probably justified when there is no...
