By far one of the worst restaurants I’ve gone to, terrible customer service and didn’t take accountability for their terrible quality of food.
I ordered churrasco grill, the mash potatoes were fine but the meat was so tough and uneatable. At the most I ate 2/3 pieces of meat and I tried eating more. It was so chewy I spit it out and left it on the plate. After addressing the waiter with the issue he claimed I ate most of the meat when in fact I left the chewed meat on the plate. I asked him if they could make another one he said no. So I asked him for a discount since I only ate the mash potatoes. The waiter said they’d apply a 10% discount to my check but never did.
The fact they didn’t tried to correct it nor just remove the meat and just charge me the side of mashed potatoes is upsetting. Churrasco is around $30, so I ate 3 pieces of meat and a side of mash potatoes for $30. Crazy, I don’t recommend anyone to come here if you’re looking for good quality food or quality service.
Lastly, an additional waiter came when I was paying and said to the other waiter and person who was checking me out. “I tried the meat it’s tender, she’s lying” while I was standing...
Read moreOverrated and overpriced. Like someone else here said, you are charged 28% "taxes" and servers imply that tip isn't included. So you essentially pay 38% extra on top of the food price for food that wasn't even worth the original price. For drinks the caipirinha was ok, the pina colada had most definitely NO rum in it. The calamari was tiny and there were so few it's like they literally counted how many they spread around the lettuce bed. The shrimp was better than the calamari, so we ate them all (very few of them though, FYI). Ordered some croquetas, one jamon, the other one cheese. Jamon was ok, cheese was not. We ordered very little and didn't finish the food because it truly did not taste good. Be prepared to be taken to a back office by the plaza if they catch you looking at the pina colada stand as an attempt to force your hand to book tour packages. Every place you look at in this country there is someone trying to rip you off. It truly is such a shame, and that makes me question ever visiting the DR ever again. PS: I'm also latina,...
Read moreJoy is a GEM in Punta Cana. I had a salad and popsicle there for a light lunch and both were delicious. The salad was a great blend of very fresh veggies served with two homemade dressings on the side - one pineapple and one passion fruit - and oil and vinegar if you are not into the house dressings. The avocado popsicle was the best popsicle I've ever had.
The people running Joy are also delightful. I had a chance to chat with them as I waited for my order and all were very sweet and friendly. They are all friends who came from Venezuela to Punta Cana fairly recently. I got to meet the chef too and she is clearly very passionate about creating fresh, healthy foods and was lovely to meet. I cannot recommend this place...
