A taste of Italy in the heart of Quito
Dining at La Caponata Italian Restaurant with friends turned out to be a culinary journey that exceeded all expectations. The brilliance of the food was matched only by the attentiveness of the service. The staff's fluency in English was not just helpful, but also made us feel right at home.
The Potato gnocchi was a revelation – pillowy and perfectly paired with a cream sauce that could easily give my mother's recipe a run for its money. As for the pizza, it was a masterpiece of flavors, with a soft crust that held the promise of authentic Italian baking.
The Boccioni salad was a vibrant prelude to the main course, almost a meal in itself, bursting with fresh flavors that set the stage for the rest of the meal. The pizza contained higher-quality ingredients, but the dough felt undercooked in some parts and the sauce under-seasoned. I had to use the table seasonings to make the pizza an...
Read moreSituated at the street corner you see the name of the restaurant only in small letters on the glass door. It has a nice atmosphere inside. The menu has Sicilian dishes and Italian wines listed. The food was delicious and the pasta al dente. The only thing I noticed was that the pasta Alla Norma sauce seemed a tomato sauce where eggplant and ricotta were added. In Italy this would have been a sauce simmering down with more vegetables and therefore would have turned into a new sauce providing a unique flavor. Overall a great experience so far...
