República del Cacao — Restaurant in Iñaquito

I have yet to visit the other Republic del Cacao cafes, but I was very impressed with this location. I loved the ambiance, atmosphere, and delicious smell of coffee and chocolate as I walked in. I tried a few options while I was there because a group of friends and I had a year-end review planning session.

The Macchiato was small but very tasty and accompanied by some of their signature chocolate pieces. I also tried the Hot Chocolate, which was quite possibly the best I've ever tasted! It wasn't overly sweet, and the portion size was large. Their Chocolate Chip Cookies are perfect, and the bottle of Licor De Cafe was surprisingly delectable on ice! You can also add it to your regular black coffee for an enhanced taste.

This is a beautiful, high-end place, but my experience was very disappointing. I arrived at 8:45 PM, well before closing time, yet I was told I couldn’t order coffee because they had already cleaned the machine, and I could not sit and enjoy my order because staff were reminding guests they close at 9:00.

When I expressed my frustration, the employee explained that stopping service 30 minutes before closing is company policy. Honestly, I find that policy completely unreasonable — if your posted hours say you close at 9:00 PM, full service should be available until 9:00 PM.
