Bombay Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Al Hadaba

Obvs thought this was an Indian restaurant so it may be prudent to flag up that this is international as most people are guided by the name. The staff were lovely really friendly but not pushy. Smartly dressed. In clean black shirt n trousers. Very smiley and speak good English. They sat me down with a menu while i made my choice, no rush n no hovering over me. I got a takeaway chicken mushroom n cheese fettuccine. It was amazing!!!! Really delicious. Even after a night in the fridge, n reheated, it tasted devine..... Massive portion served in a foil dish. It did me 2 full meals. Id say with an accompanying dish it would do 2 average eaters as a main meal. As a takeaway it came with a polystyrene plate and plastic cutlery, therefore ready to eat. I also a had a Bombay cocktail while I waited. Several spirits with red bull. All sweetness 1 min, n the next, like my old year head, sour as hell. Managed half of it. The whole lot cost me 318LE, which at the current exchange rate (6200LE=£100) is a bargain price, about a £5er!!!! Don't mind if I do!!! We had a very bad/sad experience yesterday. Though the place is nice, well designed and furnished with big terrace, situated away from busy streets and the food and coffee was delicious indeed, we would not come back so soon. The waiter and his colleagues cheated on us 3 times! on one bill. Instead of 235EGP we were asked to pay 465EGP(?!) 14% tax was supposed be included in all prices - as was stated in the menu. Before we ordered we asked if we could pay by card - yes. In the end, they told us the terminal had no signal and we could pay only cash. OKAY, but: 1) items put on the bill had different (higher) prices than in the menu. We ordered double espresso what they were not able to make so they offered turkish coffee. Okay. Coffee was delicious but instead of 50EGP it was 80EGP. 2) The sum of the total was higher than it should be after we calculated it ourselves 3) We paid 500EGP and received 20EGP back as a change :) When I complained, we got 50EGP back as a discount. Funny but not the nicest experience the last night we spent...

I used to visit this restaurant before and decided to give it another try, hoping things had improved — unfortunately, they haven’t. The staff were overly familiar but lacked basic respect and professionalism. When you ask something or try to respond,they often walk away abruptly or even place your drink carelessly, despite being shown where to put it. The food was below average, and the location right by a busy road makes the atmosphere loud and uncomfortable. It’s a pity, because the place has potential, but I truly hope the service and overall attitude will change...
