Go here if you’re looking for authentic Asian food and well made rice!
I’m Asian. My husband and I have been in Egypt for over a week and have been craving Asian food (Korean, Thai, Chinese, etc). Our hotel, St. Regis, recommended Kamala, since their hotel’s Chinese restaurant is closed for renovation. We are so happy we found Kamala!
Kamala is on the second floor of the Sofitel hotel right after the elevators. The elegant decor includes an indoor water feature. The open kitchen allowed us to see the chefs at work without the noise or smoke.
The service was top-notch, thanks to the attentive wait staff and manager, Grace. We were even treated to a visit from one of the chefs, Safta Isawara, who shared his experience and travels with us.
For appetizers, the crispy veggie spring rolls reminded me of Filipino lumpia (IMO is the perfect egg roll), with their perfect seasoning and cabbage filling. The rice, a staple in our daily meals, was cooked to perfection - moist and flavorful.
The sweet and sour chicken was a highlight, with a crispy exterior giving way to juicy meat. The sauce was balanced and not too thick or thin. The steamed sea bass was cooked just right, retaining its moisture and flavor.
Desserts were a delight, with rich, creamy ice cream and a beautifully crafted green tea crème brûlée. The crunchy topping and subtle green tea flavor were a perfect ending to our meal.
We're so impressed with Kamala that we plan to dine here for the rest of our stay in Cairo. If you're craving Asian food in Egypt,...

The service was outstanding—attentive without being intrusive. Every member of the staff made us feel genuinely welcomed and guided us through the menu with excellent recommendations.
Now, the food: absolutely exceptional. Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with authentic Asian flavors, prepared with the kind of precision and artistry you’d expect from a world-class restaurant. From the fresh sushi to the perfectly spiced curries, every bite was a reminder of the chef’s talent and passion.
Dining at Kamala wasn’t just a meal—it was a journey through flavor, ambiance, and hospitality. Without question, it’s one of the best restaurants in Egypt and a must-visit if you’re staying at the Sofitel or...
Read moreWe asked to see the menu, and we prefer not to use QR code to view the menu. They brought the menu and told us the menu price was not correct, the price had gone up. The food was terrible. I ordered shrimp and vegetable dumplings. The dough was chewy, and that was not I expected for these types of dumplings. We ordered Cantonese stem fish and Kung Po chicken for our main courses. The fish pieces were small, not fillets. There was a lot more seasoning than I expected for Cantonese steam fish. There were no peanuts in the Kong Po Chicken. When it was time to check out, they brought a bill with different items we ordered. They told us that they price was the same. I felt the management should have that corrected. The whole experience made me feel very uncomfortable. I will...
