We walked in without any thoughts, any research or expectations, tired and hungry. After that dinner, we visited Rouh Beirut 8 times in our one week stay in Egypt. The location is fantastic, the prices are reasonable, and the open kitchen creates a warm and transparent atmosphere where you directly see what they serve you. They offer an English and Arabic menu and are friendly when giving food recommendations. We especially liked the chich taouk and the baba ghanouj - couldn’t get baba ghanouj like rouh beirut’s anywhere else in Egypt. There is a nutty taste in the baba ghanouj served in different places that diminishes the fresh taste; a highly rated restaurant in Intercontinental Citystars sold theirs for sixth the price and none of the taste. Rouh Beirut always serves fresh vegetables as seen in the vegetarian starter platter. Caution: you may order way more than you can eat because everything looks good and is cheap, but their portions are huge. Take a starter and two mains, or two starters and one main. Our Egypt trip would have been completely different without this place, best of luck...
Read moreThis was a very confusing experience: we first ordered a “shawarma large”, we waited an unusually long time, our drinks were forgotten and when we go it, it was all bread and no meat. Still hungry, we then decided to take the “double shawarma plate” which consisted of two shawarma wraps which were so different to what we first received: way more meat filling, the dough of the wrap was also different or maybe felt thinner because we had more meat? Based on the first shawarma I would have given this one-star only, but the second version was actually quite good. We also had a shish kebab and the meat was dry. So, I don’t really recommend this place, unless you don’t have any other...
Read moreIt was not the worst meal I had on my vacation- but it wasn't great. Maybe I picked a bad spot, but I was warmer inside than outside. Slow service. Normally, I like Arabic pop- but it seemed really loud- but I could just be old. I ordered the vegetarian platter, and everything was just meh. Also, I had to request a napkin. I was eating hummus, babaganough, and greasy falafel - why isn't handing out a napkin a default? I loved the pictures of Lebanon. The pineapple soda from the fridge was good. I barely made it the 15-minute walk to my hotel before Pharaohs revenge kicked in. I'm only in Egypt a few more days and won't...
