I used to come to this hostel since years ago and I stayed for a long time ..The staff was good and the management was good too the last year but this time after the management has been changed, everything is absolutely horrible stayed for a long time ..The staff was good and the management was good too the last year but this time after the management has been changed, everything is absolutely horrible ||Firstly, I came to book one night even it was few hours and it was no problem to me to pay for the price for a whole night which is 200 egy ..When I entered to the room, it was absolute mess and very dirty , even the bed sheet and the pillow..It looked like a prison ..It was never like this before ..I had to go for my work and my work has not been done in Cairo that's why I had to come ||.. again ..The next time was even more horrible..I have arrived in the morning early and I found another receptionist..I wanted to book in the dormitory room as the first time ..The receptionist said that the female dormitory is full of some guys who sleep in it now and h ..I have been shocked cause it is girls room..later, he tried to scam me to pay around 500 egy for another room and it was even a few hours to stay ..After few minutes a young boy came out from the female dormitory with 21years and he asked me about the Receptionist where he is gone, saying that he is the owner of the place in a very arrogant way .. I have discovered that the Receptionist was lying to me , because he was trying to convince me with the double room with a higher price ..Later, Hesham., The boy with 21 age tried to scam me to pay 300 egy for a dirty bed in the dormitory after refusing to pay 500 egy for the double room because the check in is at 12 and I came earlier ..At the beginning the receptionist told me in a gentle way that it's okay to leave my luggage in the reception with no paying for leaving my luggage for few hours ..and also I told Hesham that I will go and then I will back to see if I can book or not and it was no problem at the beginning ..When I came back , there's a girl in the reception stopped me from taking my luggage to talk to Hesham and I didn't understand why and I was in a hurry to go to the station to travel and they didn't appreciate my situation..I could loose my ticket because of these kids and that Hisham tried to make me pay 100 egy for leaving my luggage ..I was cause why I should pay 100 egy for leaving my small luggage and I had my car which is in the park away from the hostel but the receptionist offered to just leave it and Hisham did not mention that I have to pay for my luggage..He was very rude with me and said "Go mama " !!!!! I don't understand what kind of these kids who could mange a hostel ..I used to leave my luggage even for months and then I come back to take it with all respect from the receptionists and the managers ..If they say from the beginning that I have to pay for it , then I would ..It really looked like a kindergarten with a lot of scammers..I used to love this hostel the last years ..but now I will never come back again👎👎👎👎👎😶😶😶😶😶😶 please be careful of the ||Firstly, I came to book one night even it was few hours and it was no problem to me to pay for the price for a whole night which is 200 egy ..When I entered to the room, it was absolute mess and very dirty , even the bed sheet and the pillow..It looked like a prison ..It was never like this before ..I had to go for my work and my work has not been done in Cairo that's why I had to come ||.. again ..The next time was even more horrible..I have arrived in the morning early and I found another receptionist..I wanted to book in the dormitory room as the first time ..The receptionist said that the female dormitory is full of some guys who sleep in it now and h ..I have been shocked cause it is girls room..later, he tried to scam me to pay around 500 egy for another room and it was even a few hours to stay ..After few minutes a young boy came out from the female dormitory with 21years and he asked me about the Receptionist where he is gone, saying that he is the owner of the place in a very arrogant way .. Read more"It is as good as you are going to get in Egypt". That is what I was told when I came here in my first week in my 6 week volunteering project with AIESEC. ||||After staying for over five weeks, I can only say that it has been one of the worst experiences of my life treatment-wise to the extent that I have had to move out of that hostel for the rest of my stay. Even though it is undeniable that the location is centric, this is the only good thing that I can say about this place. I still don't know how they keep their business running.||||||First of all, they treat the hosts as if they were doing you a favor for each thing that they do to you when, in fact, you have paid for their so-called "service". In my five weeks stay, there was only one time in which they cleaned the room or the bathroom that was in my room. I still don't know how i did not caught any disease or infection. There is no elevator and you have to go up 4 floors anytime you want to go in. Secondly, even though they have AC, don't get exited because any time that they want to they are going to shut it down or worse, they are going to "punish" with x days without it (in my case were 2 days that extended to almost 3) you for leaving it open when you are not inside the room. On the top of that, you get all the sharing experience, not only by sharing a room with other people who may be strangers to you, but also A BED! BED, YOU READ IT WELL. Because, according to them, you paid to share accommodation, so you have to share that as well. Again, thanks God I had a nice bed buddy with whom I didn't have any problem. They invent rules whenever they want to, arguing that they were there before when it is in fact only lies. An example of that can be that during my last days they implemented the "no strangers/guests" policy, in which you could not even bring someone on the reception and they had to wait outside.I had some pain-killer oils (pretty expensive) in the fridge, they just throw it away under the argument that they had asked everyone in the hostel (which was not true) and that they would get expired (which again was not true because oils do not expire). But, in case you didn't have enough reasons not to go there, there is another one. You ABSOLUTELY DO NOT HAVE ANY PRIVACY. They listen to the conversation inside your room and, if necessary, they talk to you about stuff that you have mentioned privately (for not saying that they have cameras everywhere in the hostel and outside of it, so, if they don't like something that you have done outside of it they have no shame in mentioning it to you or to other hosts to say it to you). These people are only nice to you as long as you don't complain to them, once you do it once you will not stop having trouble with them. During my last day, I even got intimidated by the hostel owner, to the extent that he entered the room in which I was in smoking and asked if he "could sit in the bed". It is not about being disrespectful, but it is about him showing his power over people and intimidating them once you complain. ||||So, honestly, if you want to have a good experience in Cairo, just avoid this hostel and pay a nice room in a hotel or a better hostel. It may be more expensive, but i ensure you it is absolutely worth it. I would not recommend this BY NO MEANS for any...
Read moreThis place is absolutely pathetic, on a scale of 1 to 5, i would give it a -10. Honestly have no idea why they are still in business. First of all, the hostel is on the 5th floor with no elevators. The rooms are dirty, they don't even wash the bed sheets before giving it to you. If you are fine with dirty beds and bedsheets, imagine sleeping in a room with 9 other guys with one single air conditioner that doesn't even work properly. They switch off the AC every night to save electricity, making the room hotter then the temperature outside. They also change the wifi password twice a day so we can't use it to allow them to play games on their computer with a better connection.
The washrooms are ridiculous, even my dog would find it too dirty. There wasn't a single time where I did not see a cockroach in there while i was peeing, taking a dump or showering. Other then that, you can't take a proper shower there because theres either no water or theres only a few drops of water. Moving on to safety, I can tell you that it is safer to leave your stuff on the streets then to leave them in the room. The guys there enter the rooms whenever they want and I've lost $50 there (my friend lost $400). They even stole random cheap stuff such as cigarettes, lighters, a fidget spinner and chocolates. There was one day where I got into an argument with the owner so he switched off the AC from the main switch and told me that the AC was broken. If I wasn't forced to stay there because I was in Egypt for 6 weeks with AIESEC, I would pay whatever it would cost to get out of this prison looking hostel. If you decide not to come to Kings Palace because you read this review,...
