The best food and the best coffee we have had in Egypt. We were lucky to get to know Thabit the first day we arrived in Elephantine Islands. He took great care of us and prepared the best coffee I’ve had in Egypt. We returned every day after that, had more coffee, ate delicious Sudanese dinner and drank Tamarind juice. This small coffeeshop/ bazar/ traditional restaurant is absolutely wonderful. The owner Thabit is very friendly and welcoming. He also makes the most delicious coffee I’ve ever tasted- with ginger and cardamom. One evening his wife cooked us fresh traditional sudanese food and added a tamarind juice to that- it was to die for! During my stay on Elephantine Island this place was the one I stopped for coffee at, and I don’t even drink coffee anymore.
