I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chicha in El Gouna, and I can confidently say it was one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had in a while. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was lively, stylish, and full of personality. The décor blends modern elegance with a coastal, laid-back vibe that makes you feel like you’re on vacation—even if you’re just out for dinner.
Now let’s talk about the food—because wow. Every single dish we ordered was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. You can tell the chefs here truly care about quality, taste, and creativity. The menu had so many tempting options that it was hard to choose, but I’m so glad I went with the Jasmine Rice and Seafood—an absolute must-try. The rice was fragrant and perfectly cooked, and the seafood was fresh, juicy, and seasoned to perfection. It all came together in a way that was rich but not heavy, with layers of flavor in every bite. If you’re visiting Chicha and wondering what to order, trust me—this dish alone is worth the trip.
Other highlights from the table included delicious starters, fresh salads, and perfectly grilled mains. There wasn’t a single dish that disappointed us. Everything felt balanced and thoughtfully made, and the portions were generous without being overwhelming.
Now, as amazing as the food was, I do feel it’s fair to point out one area where the experience fell a bit short. While the staff was friendly and the general vibe of the place was great, the service did feel a little disorganized at times. One person in our group ordered a Diet 7Up and it never arrived. Not just delayed—completely forgotten. We also asked for ketchup, which was promised but never brought to the table. It’s not the biggest deal in the world, but those little details do matter—especially when everything else is so close to perfect. A bit more attention to communication and organization between staff would really elevate the whole dining experience.
That being said, the food and ambiance still made Chicha a major highlight of our trip. It’s the kind of place you immediately want to recommend to your friends, and definitely one I’ll return to next time I’m in Gouna. With just a little tightening up on the service side, this place could easily go from amazing to...
Read moreIf I could give Chicha zero stars, I would. This was one of the most disrespectful and frustrating dining experiences I’ve ever had.
We were a group of friends out for a nice evening. Everything started fine ... we were seated, we ordered drinks, starters, main dishes, and desserts. We weren’t loud, we weren’t causing any trouble, and we were polite throughout the entire meal. We were there for less than 2 hours, which is totally reasonable for a full-course dinner.
But after we finished eating and were just sitting and talking quietly, the host suddenly came and told us to leave. We were shocked. One of our friends had literally just stepped out to the ATM right next door, and we asked for just 5 minutes. Instead of showing any understanding or patience, the host kept pressuring us to leave immediately, saying that other guests (who happened to be foreigners) had been waiting 30 minutes for a table.
Sorry, but that’s not our problem. We were paying customers. We spent good money at this restaurant, ordered multiple courses, and were treated like we didn’t matter the moment they wanted to seat someone else. It was very clear that we were being pushed out just to make space for tourists, and that kind of behavior is disgusting.
And if that wasn’t enough ... the bill was split into food and drinks, and they added tax and service fees TWICE, once on each part. That is beyond shady. It’s dishonest and completely unprofessional.
To summarize: ❌ Rude and disrespectful service ❌ Discriminatory treatment (favoring foreigners over locals) ❌ Pressured to leave even though we were still finishing up ❌ Tax and service fees charged twice ❌ Not even an apology ... just attitude
I left feeling angry, embarrassed, and cheated. I would never go back to Chicha, and I highly recommend others avoid it too. There are plenty of better places where your business and basic dignity will actually...
Read moreThe place is very busy at dinner hours, but it's not the problem in itself. However, the service is just not up to the price point, they will include service charges and vat tax in the bill, so beware. It took them 20 minutes to bring me the bill and terminal to pay by card… The main problem is the food. It’s not good at all. I understand that the core concept of the menu is a fusion of Asian, Mexican, and Peruvian national dishes. But in dishes that we took it was made poorly. It is made so that you don’t taste actual products, taste is overwhelmed by the excessive use of Asian sauces and spices. For example, I took Bulgogi Beef Taco, and the taste was strongly dominated by smoke, I suspect these were not made on a charcoal grill as stated, they’ve used liquid smoke… So basically, I got a sour and heavily smoked taco-like dish… We also took Salmon Ceviche which was not as bad as taco but not good enough, again you can taste only the strong sauce flavor. The salmon taste was absent and frankly, it could be any other fish in this dish you wouldn’t see much difference. Shrimp Tempura was ok at best, it was deep-fried in overused oil and when served there was too much oil on it. Food tastes differ, but prior to visiting Egypt I was in Asia for a long time, and I think I can say that I know a thing or two about how Asian fusion can taste. Also, I enjoy cooking myself, so I don’t have to imagine how certain dishes may taste in a better way.
Overall, this visually is a nice place, but beware that the overall experience might not be as good as the hype around this restaurant. It’s one of the relatively expensive places around and It’s overpriced for what you get considering the food and...
