I booked this hotel specifically for my 25th birthday celebration, expecting a memorable experience, but what I encountered was nothing short of a nightmare. From the moment I arrived, the service and conditions were utterly unacceptable.
Firstly, I had contacted the hotel in advance to arrange a special birthday treatment. Upon arrival, I found the decorations in my room to be hastily done, poorly arranged, and not neatly presented. The sheets were un-ironed, and the room was covered in dust—on the tables, by the TV, on the bed frame, and throughout the living area. I could wipe my finger across the surfaces and see the grey dust on my hand. This level of cleanliness is completely unacceptable for a hotel claiming to offer luxury accommodation.
When I requested to speak with the manager to address these issues and perhaps find some resolution, I was met with silence—no manager ever came to speak with me. Instead, I was left feeling ignored and dismissed.
Things took a turn for the worse late at night. When housekeeping arrived, they caused a mess, and the lizard fell to the floor, running around in the room. The housekeeper then insisted we needed to move rooms immediately, which was extremely disruptive and stressful. We had to pack up all our belongings and relocate to a lower-tier room—a downgrade from the suite I had originally booked. The new room was a basic double with one bathroom, a stark contrast to the luxurious suite I had paid for.
What’s most disappointing is that there was a junior suite available, which would have been a suitable upgrade, yet I was forced into the lowest room available. The hotel’s general manager, working at 2 am on 17/07/2025, told us there was nothing more they could do—either accept the downgrade or check out. It was 2:30 am by then, and I was left exhausted, frustrated, and utterly disappointed.
This experience has ruined what should have been a special celebration. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. I requested a full refund for the countless inconveniences, but I was told they need to consult their financial team—something entirely irrelevant to me as a guest. The lack of remorse, empathy, or genuine apology was shocking and indicative of poor customer service.
In summary, this hotel failed on every level—cleanliness, customer service, responsiveness, and overall quality. I am extremely dissatisfied and hope no one else has to endure such an experience.

We stayed at Steigenberger Golf Resort El Gouna as a couple for 5 nights and everything was simply amazing from the moment we arrived until our last day.
We had a Premium King View Room with all-inclusive, and it exceeded all our expectations. The room was incredibly spacious, beautifully decorated, and fully equipped (only body cream was missing from the amenities). We appreciated the complimentary mini bar as part of the all-inclusive package, and the daily cleaning service kept everything spotless.
The food was outstanding – truly a highlight of our stay. Every day brought a new and delicious selection. We enjoyed breakfast at the Fairways buffet, lunch à la carte by the pool, and buffet dinners in the evening. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Drinks, filtered water (by Brita), coffee, and cocktails were all included and readily available.
The resort itself is stunning – very well maintained, with a spacious pool area, plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas, and attentive lifeguards who also helped with towels and shade when needed. The lagoon area is a peaceful alternative to the pool, offering a quieter atmosphere and clean, calm waters.
We also loved that the hotel organized evening events almost daily. You could really see the attention to detail and the effort the staff put in – preparations often started early in the afternoon!
Contrary to some reviews we read, we didn’t encounter any unpleasant situations with external visitors. Occasionally, service providers (like spa or excursions) would approach, but never in an annoying way. If you weren’t interested, they’d politely thank you and walk away. We actually found it helpful to learn about some services we wouldn’t have discovered otherwise.
The spa experience was wonderful too – located in a peaceful area across the resort near the golf course, with a charming boat ride to get there.
The location is ideal: close to El Gouna city center, with tuk-tuks always waiting just outside the hotel. A short 10-minute ride to the marina only costs 50 EGP (~0.80€). The hotel can also arrange airport transfers with their minivan service.
Lastly, the staff were exceptional – warm, helpful, and always attentive. The level of hospitality was truly 5-star.
