Extremely Disappointing Experience at Athena Greek – Not Recommended

I visited Athena Greek in El Gouna and unfortunately, it was one of the worst café experiences I’ve had in a long time. • The cappuccino was completely flat – no flavor, no foam, no effort. • The chocolate milkshake tasted like a cheap mix of powder and milk, poorly blended and unpleasant. • The mango juice was artificial and clearly not fresh – it honestly tasted like something from a carton, not what you’d expect from a place claiming quality.

But even worse than the drinks was the service. The waiters were cold, unwelcoming, and gave off a strong impression that they just didn’t want to be there – or deal with customers. There was zero hospitality or basic courtesy. In a place like El Gouna, where good service is the standard, this was a shockingly bad experience.

I recently dined at Greek Taverna El Gouna restaurant,and it was an exceptional experience. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with traditional decor that transports you straight to Greece. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, offering excellent recommendations.

We started with the mezze platter, which featured a delightful assortment of tzatziki, hummus, and dolmas. Each dish was bursting with flavor. For the main course, the lamb Kebab & Cutlets was perfectly grilled and served with fragrant rice and fresh vegetables. My companion enjoyed the moussaka, which was rich and satisfying.

I had such a wonderful dining experience at Athena Greek Taverna in El Gouna! The moment you walk in, you’re welcomed with warm hospitality and a cozy, authentic Greek atmosphere.

The food was absolutely delicious — fresh ingredients, bold Mediterranean flavors, and perfectly cooked dishes. We especially loved the grilled octopus, moussaka, and the homemade tzatziki — everything tasted homemade with real care.

Service was excellent: attentive, friendly, and fast. The staff made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed.
