Wow . Well where do I start , we were recommended this hotel in El Gouna and it didn't disappoint. So on arrival it looks like there are some renovations needed . However once inside this is where the love story of this hotel started. Friendly warm greeting, we arrived late and we were immediately offered food and drinks . We declined as it had been a very long day travelling and really needed our bed. We were initially given a room where there were renovations taking place . The hotel is being renovated in certain parts and the workmen are trying hard to keep this out of site so that it doesn't impact your holiday . However we did have a small bed, i like to star fish and my poor husband fell out of bed , and to be honest I had already seen the bungalows and was dying to get one, but it wasn't an option on the travel site that we used to book the holiday . So in the morning I hot footed it to the reception to ask for a different room . When I explained why, we were upgraded to a bigger room that then had 3 beds in it ..no issues no questions , only if were we happy with the new room. We were it was lovely . However I was still curious about the bungalows so when we went back the next day and asked if they had any free and could we pay to upgrade at this point I thought I was.just being a little diva 😅.. but none of this was a problem , I've never had such amazing service or been made to feel that nothing was too much trouble. Moving on to the views and facilities everything you could want from excusions to boat taxi free every hour, to the private island where drinks and food are all inclusive, make sure you go to the island and to the resturant and bar for panorama hotel or you might end up paying 😀. The service around the pool , well as soon as you see a bed the guys come over put your towel down for you, get you an ashtray if you smoke and then the bar guys come round and get you what ever drinks you want . The pool is beautiful and definatley needed . The heat is so strong its a well deseversd cool down. The spa is also another must do where the treatments make you glow. I know this sounds too good to be true but it isn't. The best experience though is, ive never been to a hotel apart from the bellagio in hurghada where the food for all.inclusive is just stunning. The chefs take so much pride in their work and I have seen so many all.inclusives to know that most are like canteens . Nope not these teams, it wasn't surprising to find out that the hotels are owned by the same owner, who clearly only hires people that are proud to wor and rake pride in the work they dokthe food is dramatic displays of the most tastiest food that meets the taste buds of most people . I've never met such genuine caring kind people who work silly hours very hard in extreme heat. Always with a big smile. They are the most polite friendly people I've ever met. If you go and you can't see this in them then I belive there is a problem with you not them , as I witnessed them treating everyone including myself and my husband like royalty. It is a place not for partying but for relaxing the sister hotel the bellagio hurghada is more aimed and the livelier atmosphere. No wonder they won hotel of the year 2022 it is well deserved and not very expensive at all . I will be back every year I feel this is our ongoing story . I will miss everyone thank you for the most amazing stay . See you all next year Michelle &...
Read morePlease read as i feel there are two sides to the hotel.
Firstly is the bad bit. We booked what was listed as "pool view standard double room" the pictures of the rooms looked nice. The reality was and is somewhat different. When we arrived the first thing the reception staff said was "take a look at your room and if you want to change then we can 'uprade' you" So the first room we saw was terrible. Just very unclean, old looking. The shower was a bath with a shower head above it for example. Nothing close to what you'd expect for what was advertised as 4 star. We said that we were not happy about this room and so were shown a second which was slightly better and was out onto what they called a private pool (but was shared with 6 rooms). This still didn't meet the standard of what we thought we had booked and on top of that they wanted an extra £20 per person per night (you do the maths). Everyone we talked to went through this experience at the hotel. A family that turned up at the same time as us were marched round a total of 4 rooms (bare in mind we arrived at 11PM after a 5 hour flight so you can imagine how mentally draining this is). So it seems like you are being scammed. You are in a position where you can't do anything but accept a sub standard room or pay extra. This, along with how tired the rooms were, really let the place down. In the end, because it was late, we just went with the third room we were shown. The view was of a carpark, there was a hole in the wall, all the silicone in the shower area was dirty and breaking apart, the hair dryer didn't work, the shower glass was on the wrong side of the shower so you entered right where the shower was meaning after a shower you'd have to clean up all the water that had sprayed all over the bathroom floor, the wardrobe stank, the wall sockets were loose, etc etc you get the idea. I'll come onto the good bits now.
The good parts (which actually are the bits that mattered) were that the food was great, the eating area right next to the sea with the view was lovely, they have their own boat trips to their own section of an island all included for free which is very nice, its central to el gouna, the staff are generally very nice and helpful, the hotel has its own booth that offer 'excursions' that are all pre organised for you, the pool is nice, they change the bedding and towels daily.
Honestly its a shame to have to write the first bit. And its a shame that the hotels first impression is just so bad. I can't see many people turning up on day one and being pleased. Overall its actually good and like i say the important parts are there. If the place was overhauled somewhat and the management abandoned the approach of trying to get you to pay more for your stay it would be perfect.
Realistically next time i go el gouna (this was first time) i'd find somewhere else to stay. There must be other similar hotels with pools and all inclusive that are much...
Read moreArrived at hotel after a 45 minute taxi ride from airport. |Had been in touch with hotel approx 6 weeks before our arrival reminding them that we had booked a bungalow room with pool view, and if possible the first one on the block (attached the photo off there website) as I suffer from Multiple Sclerosis and struggled with stairs and walking distances.|Passed paperwork to receptionist who then informed us that we had been upgraded to a lagoon bungalow at no extra charge. Went to see it but was not suitable for me, so they then took us to block 2 in the hotel. Room had access to pool, but I would have to climb over wall and then down ladder to get in! Back to reception and they obviously did not have the room that I had booked. By now we had been trying to sort this for nearly 2 hours, we were tired, hungry and thirsty so decided to accept the room and meet the manager the next morning.|Had breakfast and the went back to reception, waited about 30 minutes for manager to come and see us. He told us he woud take us to see a different room, but we said we just wanted the room we had paid for. Eventually he agreed but it wouldn't be available until the following day. This meant that by the time we moved rooms our holiday had been disrupted by 2 days. Moved to new room, which was a bungalow with a pool view.....full stop! Couldn't get in pool as there were no steps, and so certainly wouldn't of been able to get out. It was room 809, end of the block. Workmans area was next door, along with stairs to rooms. People up and down all day, and workmen there until 8 at night sometimes. Holiday for me now totally ruined, been in 3 rooms, wasted 2 days and had the worst room possible.|Hubby didn't want to complain anymore so I sent a message to the manager asking if we could possibly move further down the pool when one became available...he never answered.|We have travelled worldwide and many times to Egypt, but never been treated like this, I just wanted to go home. Our last day we asked if we could keep the room until 4, no problem but it will cost €50, no compassion for all the upheaval. |On another level the staff at this hotel went beyond helpful, nothing was to much trouble and it was really appreciated. Alaa always kept our room clean and tidy, which was really hard as there were no drawers or shelves for our clothes, they were just stacked on the dressing table.|Bar staff new our drinks before we sat down, and Abdo in the restaurant the same, excellent service.|Saw many people changing rooms, so don't expect to get the room that you have actually booked. Needless to say we will not return...
