I don't normally write reviews but I needed to to deter others from this restaurant. The service is really bad and I am shocked this place is still is an existence. I arrived at the restaurant given a time for a reservation which was not honoured I had to wait by the door eventually when I was seated I stated that this reservation was for a special occasion which I was told would be accommodated for. This was not accommodated for or even acknowledged and they ensured this would be the worst experience I have ever seen from a restaurant. The staff do not wear uniform appropriately and are unprofessional and do not show the level of service that the restaurant thinks it's capable of delivering. When ordering drinks the drinks I'm not served to the person but they are placed in the middle of the table. The food was absolutely cold and the pasta was not aldente and I asked for a medium steak which came out well done. The restaurant attempts to charge astronomical prices for food which is fine as long as they deliver that this restaurant delivers nowhere near that. My advice to you is to have water there and even that's not that great as they do not use a good brand of water. When speaking to the manager to let him know about this he did nothing about it and in fact was extremely arrogant. When asking for the general manager he was extremely reluctant to have me communicate with him but he stated to me that he would take my contact number which I had to chase him 3/4 and even when I was leaving the restaurant and made eye contact with him he quickly tried to disappear it was like Tom and Jerry in the restaurant as he did not want me to complain. I was advised in the end that the general manager would phone me but that has not happened to this day. It's vital that everyone reads this review and avoids this price at all costs as I am pretty sure you can have food a lot better than this for a lot cheaper in nicer places. Despite the problems with the evening the manager did absolutely nothing about the inconvenience is caused on the occasion and insisted that we still pay a service charge. The appropriate thing to do would've been to waive the bill given that he had acknowledged that the food came out badly and the service was extremely poor. It's embarrassing that this has to come from a customer and that they are not trained in the appropriate customer service to be able to deliver that.

Avoid...

my honest pov and summery: overrated place but do provides good Nile river view, mediocre food with BAD service but drinks prices are aligned to other hotel bars prices

service: 2/10 very transactional and no smile. one of the worse service in my 4 days in Cairo.

my experience in this place wasn't great dispute the good review i have read here, i was greeted by a unfriendly Woman. she was just chitchatting with her friend ignoring everyone, i just stood by the reception for a min , before she finally acknowledged there was customer waiting, then i was being ignored by her being on the queue first. she just call the person behind me.

i came up to the 4th floor and greeted by another unfriendly male, he looks like a manager there. i was there at 7:30 pm on a week day, it wasn't full in the restaurant, lots of empty table but service was mediocre and not attentive at all.

the only friendly service i received were staff from the bar, i was sitting by the bar table. i can also see how much care they put on to preparing for the cocktails as well.

food: 50/50 food was ok but bewared you paying minimum 1200 EGP while other good restaurants with great reviews are around 400 EGP. i have ordered beef cube as appetiser , the beef cube was chewy and very oily with the additional oil they put on top of the meat. for main course, i have ordered the chicken skewers , the chicken was soft and the veggie did taste fresh! i was still hungry after dinner but decided not to stay here for too long.

pricing: 50/50 food: overpriced for Egypt. wine: pricing is fair as you would pay similar price for wine or cocktails

Nile River View 7/10 you do have a super nice view of the Nile River. so if yo want to snap a good Nile River instergam worthy pic, then you should come here. however, if you are looking for rooptop bar, i went to the Ramses Hilton Hotel bar on the top floor, its gives better view so perhaps u may want to check them out before spending your money and evening here, other suggestion would be NOX in Ritz, you are paying similar price but with Ritz standard, and...

Mixed feelings!

Crimson Downtown, typically a reliable favorite, offered a surprisingly mixed experience during a recent breakfast visit. My friend, visiting from abroad, was keen to sample an authentic Egyptian breakfast, and I was excited to showcase one of my preferred spots overlooking the stunning river nile. Unfortunately, the waiter's demeanor cast a significant shadow over what should have been a delightful occasion. Upon arrival, our greeting was noticeably cold, a stark contrast to the warmth one typically expects. After settling in and perusing the menu, I politely, and with a smile, attempted to engage our waiter, mentioning my friend's visit and asking for recommendations for traditional Egyptian dishes. His response was one of clear disinterest, leaving me feeling somewhat embarrassed in front of my guest. The situation further deteriorated when we requested water. I explicitly asked for "still water." To my surprise, he began pouring sparkling water into my friend's glass. When I gently corrected him, stating we had ordered still, he immediately became argumentative, insisting I had explicitly asked for sparkling. Despite my reiteration, he rolled his eyes and departed with a visible attitude. His return was equally unpleasant, as he demanded my name in an arrogant and disrespectful manner, presumably to adjust the bill for the sparkling water. In all honesty, this was not my first visit to Crimson, and I usually thoroughly enjoy the ambiance and offerings. However, this particular interaction with the waiter seriously marred the entire experience, especially as I was hoping to impress a friend from overseas. While the food itself lived up to expectations, the cold, argumentative, and disrespectful service from our waiter unfortunately overshadowed the culinary experience and left a lasting negative impression. A more attentive and polite server would have undoubtedly made this a truly...

What’s good about this place: - Great view of the Nile - Food is above average - Chicken is very very tender - Music and ambiance What’s NOT good about this place: Where do I begin? I feel like I need to write a paper about this. We went for brunch, we were greeted at the door by the manager/head waiter who began by saying “you do realize this is a restaurant not a café right?” and continued by asking us if we were going to order food or not before showing us to a table! THE OBSCENITY. Luckily we passed the interview; still standing in custody with no table, he asks me how much time we would need to finish our food! - “Maybe 90 minutes?”, I very annoyedly answer - “Okay you have SIXTY minutes to clear the table!”, The guy says No matter how good the food could be this was doomed to be a 60mins long nightmare. You know what’s worse than being interviewed to get a table? Being pressured to leave in a set amount of time. Although our waiter, Romany, was really nice; I couldn’t get over the management and how things were run there. I hate how classist Cairo is becoming and I won’t be participating in the process and definitely not going there again. Not in anywhere in the world have I been interviewed or humiliated like this for A MEAL THAT I AM PAYING FOR! A meal that’s not even that special, a basic bee menu where the best thing about it is the view. To conclude, I would rather get an airbnb by the Nile for a FULL DAY for that money and order Big Tastys from Mcdonalds, heck I would even rather take a walk by the corncihe right down the restaurant and get a baked sweet potato served with a smile from a vendor that won’t require my CV. Crimson honey bunches, you can’t be both classy and classist.

Crimson is located in Zamalek overlooking the Nile. A premium location in Cairo for a premium place. Simple and elegant interior with a glass wall which is, when open, gives the whole place an open roof top feeling. We started with their homemade nachos. It was very good and came with 5 dippings: Sour cream, Guacamole, spicy cheese, beans, and a corn salad (i guess this is a salsa replacement). It was good. We also got the stuffed mushrooms (Spinach and cheese). It was very good too. Then we went for the black Angus ribeye steak and the roasted duck. The ribeye was cooked to our liking and came with grilled vegetables and sweet potato fries. It was good but had some silver skin! The roasted duck came with a very tasty risotto side. The duck was shredded. Every piece had a crunchy bit or skin. It was very well spiced with a clear accent of funnel greek. I loved it. For desert, we choose the tiramisu. It's a shame that it didn't have rum, given Crimson is a bar. They added chunks of chocolate which added great texture and flavor. I really liked it too. Service was good. Yet, they decided to serve the main dish despite they could see that we are still going through the appetisers. We reported also the defect in the, what's supposed to be a perfect steak, but nothing... I would have ignored those downfalls but this isn't a cheap place and is supposed to offer top notch experience. I liked this place and would definitely return but I wouldn't order steak.
