Sushi gate — Restaurant in Geziret al Zamalik, Jazirat al Zamalik

Sushi Gate in Zamalek, Cairo, is a restaurant that I had high hopes for, but unfortunately, it did not live up to my expectations. The restaurant's atmosphere is pleasant enough, with a modern and minimalist decor. However, the service was slow and inattentive, and the food was disappointing. The sushi was not fresh, and the fish was often mushy. The rice was also too sticky and lacked flavor. The maki rolls were poorly constructed, and the fillings were unevenly distributed. The nigiri was also disappointing, with the fish being too thick and the rice too bland. In addition to the poor quality of the sushi, the service at Sushi Gate was also slow and inattentive. We had to wait a long time for our food to arrive, and the waitstaff was not very attentive to our needs. When we finally received our food, it was not what we had ordered. Overall, I was very disappointed with my experience at Sushi Gate in Zamalek. The food was not fresh or well-prepared, and the service was slow and inattentive. Terrible Experience – Never Again!

I ordered from Sushi Gate yesterday at 1:50 AM — a 24-piece sushi combo. The food arrived over 1.5 hours later at 3:34 AM, with no notice at all about the delay.

The sushi was cold, the taste was honestly awful — mostly just rice, and you can barely taste any crab or other ingredients. The wasabi portion was tiny, almost invisible, and not even enough for one person. Definitely not worth the price, and nothing like the pictures.

We’re located only 10 minutes away in Dokki (with no traffic at night), so there was no reason for the delay. We called them after almost an hour, and they said the order had already gone out — which turned out to be false. We asked them to contact the delivery guy, and they said "we'll call him", but they never got back to us with any update. I had to follow up again myself, but the delivery guy’s phone was still switched off and he didn’t respond.

Eventually, much later, the delivery guy called and said he was just about to leave and asked me to send the location — more than an hour and a half after I ordered.

Honestly, the service was terrible, the food was disappointing, and the entire experience was a waste of time, money, and energy. This was the first and last time I’ll ever order...

We find the seller in the street in Dokki area. Many people were arround so we decide to try the sushi... And was a GREAT idea!! Sushis are fesh and excellent, even the sushi I don't use to like, in this shop I loved it!!
