We were starving and in a rush while walking through the Marina in Hurghada when a very pushy waiter/host from Nubian Egyptian Food kept insisting and pressuring us to come inside. Out of pure hunger and urgency, we agreed — huge mistake.
From the moment we sat down, the experience went downhill fast. We weren’t even given a proper chance to look at the menu — the waiter immediately started suggesting plates, and under pressure and hunger, we just confirmed what he said. We didn’t even get basic drinking water. The table was bad, service was chaotic, and the waiter brought things without confirming properly — even the juice was chosen by him without any of our input.
Then came the food… eventually. It took forever. And when it finally arrived, it was straight-up inedible. The rice was cold. The meat platter (kebab and hamam) was dry, leftovers undercooked, tough, and honestly just bad. No seasoning, no texture, nothing fresh. It felt like reheated leftovers, not restaurant-quality food. We couldn’t eat any of it and most likely would have gotten food-poisined.
We politely gave our feedback and told them the food was cold, dry, and we couldn’t eat it. They didn’t apologize, didn’t care, didn’t offer a solution or replacement. They just shrugged and charged us anyway — full price — for food we couldn’t even finish.
Bathrooms and toilets are extremely dirty as well.
Moreover, the music is loud and the place is such a mess.
This is the definition of a tourist scam disguised as a restaurant. They pressure you in, rush you, decide for you, serve terrible food, and cash out without a hint of hospitality. There’s no service, no quality, and definitely no respect for the customer.
Save yourself the money, time, and stomach ache. Avoid this...
Read moreDON'T order their Koshary! At least not expecting anything close to what Egypt's national dish tastes in the rest of the country. Their version is as far away from the authentic street food experience as Las Vegas from the Giza pyramids.
First the positive: beautiful location and colorful Nubian decor. Friendly service and the menu promises a mix of local dishes and drinks at fair prices given the expensive Marina location. It was my last day before leaving Egypt, which I traveled for 2 months and I wanted to eat what was my favorite local dish one last time.
Sadly, that wish turned into tragedy. A generous portion of 'Koshary' arrived, lacking everything that makes this food special. It was lacking any of the characteristic vinegar/garlic sauce and they served a Heinz sauce instead of the usual hot sauce. Fried onions were brought to the table when I asked for them. My request for the vinegar/garlic sauce resulted in a rich mayo/garlic insult for the taste buds.
Waiter and Management tried to make up for that when I asked for the missing ingredients (and they saw me starting to write this review 😜) but couldn't fix the disappointment. Their cappuccino was also below average which is why I would assume that this store is not really serious about trying to deliver a...
Read moreAvoid Avoid Avoid!!! We chose this restaurant for our last night in Hurghada as it was Egyptian. Although we were given menus the waiter was very pushy trying to convince us to have his 'special offer' at £50 per person!! This then moved into lots of pushy haggling just to have dinner. We declined and chose from the menu. We only got 4 of our 6 drinks. My chicken was nice, 2 others were given the wrong meals and the other 3 had the nubian seafood. This was set on fire on arrival which was impressive. Unfortunately all 3 didn't eat it as was too burnt, even the veggies were cremated and stuck to the bottom. 2 got the wrong side order with their meal. At one point the waiter came and tried to get us to swap 10,000 egyptian pounds to £'s with a dodgy story. A scam we has been warned about in the street. We certainly didn't expect it from the waiter while we were eating. To top off the terrible experience, we paid in cash (Egyptian) and after 4 of us double checking it was right we were called back and told we had underpaid! We are very familiar with the currency and had even given a tip! Oh, and 3 out of 6 of us had bad stomachs following eating here. Please choose any other option in the marina or even Sheraton street where we had some...
