This restaurant is a complete rip-off. It charges MORE than restaurants I've been to in the US and Europe. But this is Egypt where ingredients are very cheap and this wasn't a fine dining experience. I ended up with a $47 bill for 2 people for a plate of simple salads, dips, 4 falafels, bread, and 4 samosas. A 26% tax is added to their already ridiculously overpriced food too. Unfortunately, I didn't realize a tax would be added and I thought for those initial stupidly high prices, the portion sizes must be much bigger too. I was wrong. The food isn't even of a high quality either. Every dip and salad on the platter was simply drizzled with oil and watered down pomegranate molasses. The vegetable dip platter is $21 BEFORE tax and portions are smaller than if you order each one separately and the chef puts the cheapest ingredients on the plate too.
That's not all. We specifically told them we couldn't eat cheese and yogurt before ordering, and the first thing they brought out was labne and babaganoush with yogurt! When they took the plate back, they left traces of the dairy on it and simply dumped another dip on top (vegans and lactose intolerant people avoid! The arrogant waiter simply pretended he understood everything we said). I can't believe they operate like this and rip off tourists to this extent. It's unethical and leaves a bad impression as you can see from the many other bad reviews here. Lessons learned: never go to a restaurant hungry and read the reviews first. This restaurant is a joke and doesn't...
Read more⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had a fantastic dining experience at Fairuz Restaurant, Café & Lounge! From the moment I arrived, the ambiance was inviting and comfortable, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a meal.
I started with the hummus and baba ganoush, both of which were absolutely delicious. The hummus was creamy and rich, with the perfect balance of flavors, while the baba ganoush had a delightful smoky taste that paired wonderfully with the warm pita bread.
For the main course, I tried both the chicken shawarma and the lamb shawarma. Each was a standout! The chicken was juicy and seasoned to perfection, while the lamb was tender and full of robust flavors. The shawarma was served with pickled vegetables, crispy French fries, and a delicious sauce that brought everything together beautifully.
The service was top-notch, with the staff being friendly and attentive, ensuring that my dining experience was enjoyable from start to finish.
Overall, Fairuz Restaurant, Café & Lounge exceeded my expectations with its delicious food and welcoming atmosphere. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy authentic Middle Eastern cuisine. I can't wait to return to try...
Read moreThe Fattoosh salad was not made the typical Lebanese way: its dressing tasted like vinegar instead of lemon juice, and it lacked the quintessential sumac spice. The Kibbeh was not fried to a deep-brown crisp as it should be. My biggest disappointment was the fact that when— upon entering the restaurant— I was told by a member of the waitstaff that I could pay by credit card, he did not mention the fact that a 3% “foreign transaction fee” would be charged by the Egyptian bank which processes the restaurant’s credit card payments. When the time came to pay my bill and I handed my credit card, another member of the waitstaff— the actual waiter that is— did not tell me about the 3% fee either. Of the many commercial establishments I have patronized in Egypt (groceries, services, travel, transportation, pharmacy…), only one establishment, other than Fairuz, charged me a fee (2%) for paying with a credit card which the waiter had told me about before I ordered. The U.S.-based bank which issued my credit card never charges a fee for foreign purchases or payments. Overall, the experience at Fairuz...
