Visited on Wednesday 18/09/2024, late afternoon, with plans to have an evening meal here, as well as browse the shops. Didn’t like it at all, didn’t feel safe / secure. Shop workers constantly harassing you to go in, won’t leave you alone to browse, though this seems to be Egypt all over. This included a shop attached to the taxi office we were taken to, so were subject to several minutes of captive unwanted sales pitch before we were given our ticket for the return journey and allowed to go our own way. We purchased some ornaments from one decent shop we were encouraged into by an unusually pleasant owner, who wasn’t too pushy. The final straw came when we were lured into one fragrance shop on false pretences, door closed behind us, obligation being created by cans of Coca-Cola being thrust into our hands, and before we knew it, a fragrance was being made up into a bottle and wrapped up with a very cheap lightweight burner, despite us saying we didn’t want anything. When price finally quoted in Egyptian Pounds, it converted to about £60 GBP, which was outrageous. On offering £20 – which was still too much for the trash being peddled to us, and bearing in mind we didn’t want anything from this shop – we were told this was nothing, though he begrudging accepted it. We made a swift exit. We only stayed in Naarma Bay for about an hour and a quarter, having visited just three shops in total. A very...

Read moreWe went to Naama Bay because we read there is a public beach. Once we arrived there was no public beach to be found. Everything was private and belonged to the resorts or hotels. Once we found the public one, it was so so depressing that we needed to leave immediately. The part of the sea given to the public beach is not even big enough to have a swim. The whole place is dirty and in the worst state, as if it was abandoned for years. It was very upsetting to realize that they tell is something as a public beach when there ia actually not. The whole bay is taken by the resorts which is very sad. I get that they “buy” part of the beach to provide their guests comfort but I find it crazy that there is no single part that allows people just to enjoy the beach freely. The star are just because the bay is very pretty...
