I spent about 6 days in Tallinn, and this restaurant elevated what was already an amazing experience tenfold. At first, I didn’t think much of it — the food was excellent, the ambiance lovely, but I thought it was just another great spot.
Then something unexpected happened.
The same person who greeted me, took my order, and brought my drink... went into the kitchen, cooked my food, and served it to me. I was flabbergasted.
As someone who worked in restaurants for over 7 years, I tried to process what I was seeing through a professional lens. When I finished my appetizer and received my main dish, I asked the host/waiter/chef if he was working alone — and he confirmed it. I asked how that was even possible. He smiled and said, “Estonian people are patient.”
I stayed a bit longer, chatted with him, and discovered he’s not only incredibly skilled, but also kind, funny, and easy to talk to. I left with such a strong positive impression that I came back two more times during my stay — and each time, it was just as fantastic.
Chef’s kiss to the chef. This was truly one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. I highly recommend it to anyone...
Read moreWhat an amazing find outside the Old town and just around the corner from the excellent food market, Balti Jaama Turg. We went initially for breakfast and the owner seems to be both chef, waiter and excellent host. The dishes, porridge and omelettes were excellent and made us want to go back for dinner later. Again the same host (also our chef and waiter) and more amazing food. We had a starter of goats cheese and salad and the shepherds pie and pork schnitzel for mains, all beautiful dishes and really reasonably priced. It seemed a crime that it wasn’t fully booked out but instead had a lovely neighbour feel with only a few tables and the chef coming down and cracking jokes whilst he served us the food or wine. Highly, highly recommend...
Read moreThis place is truly magical. It was two minutes from our Airbnb so we decided to spontaneously stop by for a late lunch. We had the pesto pasta, the schnitzel, the duck, and the mille feuille for dessert. The attention to detail in the dishes did not go unnoticed and could be tasted in every bite. All run singlehandedly by the owner in the kitchen, this is such a hidden gem that I want to keep it a secret all to myself- but it’s so great that it also deserves to be known by the world. Extremely fair prices, especially for the portions. Fresh ingredients, and lovely decor and ambiance. Please visit if you have a chance! You won’t be disappointed. Thanks Flower Garden for a great way to end our trip...
