no concept. — Restaurant in Tallinn

My friend and I went there to celebrate March 8th. When booking, we were asked to pay a deposit of €20.

The food, atmosphere, and service were acceptable, but the way the evening ended left a bitter aftertaste. The waiter didn’t split the bill and, most importantly, didn’t deduct the deposit we had already paid. When we asked why, we were told that the deposit was actually a fee for entry, a welcome drink, and… paying the musician!

We were never informed about this when making the reservation, so we naturally assumed the deposit would go toward our bill. The waiter didn’t even try to smooth things over but instead made some strange excuses: “It was written incorrectly… And how are we supposed to pay the musician? He’s not playing for free!”

This kind of attitude completely ruined our impression of the place. What’s worse, this was supposed to be a special day to feel appreciated, yet it was spoiled by such a rude approach. I still feel disappointed even now.

We really liked this place, although it’s quite small, it feels very cozy and has beautiful, stylish interior. To start, we tried the Handsa Rowanberry Sour shot from their new Finno-Ugric menu. It had an interesting taste but was quite strong, something to keep in mind if you decide to try it. For cocktails, we ordered Polaroid and Sexberry, both were great and we especially loved the second one. From the food menu, we chose the creamy fish soup and baked camembert. The soup was absolutely amazing, full of salmon, really filling and camembert was delicious as well. Also heard that their cheeseballs with truffle sauce are really great, so plan to try them next time. This was one of our favorite diamond experiences over the chorus of 10 days in Estonia. All the food was really quite incredible. My favorites with the beef tartare, the pork ribs, and the fish and chips. But also recommend the sweet potatoes, as they were country, flavorful, and the sauces that accompanied all the dishes Were very savory and very delicious. Also make sure to get the chef dessert of the day. They also really liked the music that was being played, and the cocktails were very satiating. Especially like the spicy cocktails and recommend those. Overall, I wouldn’t change anything about my experience here, I would go back again and again and again.
