My wife & I were really looking forward to visiting this museum in the short time I spent in Tallinn during this visit. We planned visiting it on Sunday morning, arriving there at the opening hour. After walking from the hotel for 15 minutes, we arrived at the museum and saw a small paper sign saying that the museum is reserved for 4 hours (half its work-day). A woman carrying something passed us from the outside, and said to us "It's closed" as she walked in.

It's important to mention that we checked the museum's social media sites and their main website beforehand to make sure that it's open. There were no updates or changes regarding the hours. When you run a museum for the public and as a tourist attraction, I believe that this sort of thing should never happen, and you should inform your customers about being closed to the public as to not waste people's time. Especially on a Sunday during the holidays season, when you plan to be closed for over half of your work day.

I'm sad we didn't get the chance to visit but I won't return here because I refuse to support this sort of apathetic behavior toward potential...

The temporary mushroom exhibit was truly wonderful. And I greatly appreciated the free English audio guide to find out more.

The rest of the museum defintiely caters to Estonians, particularly families with younger kids. I appreciate that they have a strong museum culture.

But if you don't understand Estonian, you won't be reading much, as all the posters are in Estonian. But the audio guides (available in English, Finnish, Estonian and Russian) was a great help.

The displays are done beautifully and I was pleasantly surprised by the wide variety of fauna and flora.

For 10 eur, I think it's a fair...

This is a tiny museum with a nice exposition on the estonian flora and fauna. They provide various prepared specimen and a lot of derails. The target group seem to be kids and young people from Estonia as most of the texts are provided in estonian language. Luckily, they also provide some website with audio guides in english. Hence, don't forget your headphones and earbuds if you are not an native speaker. Due to the small size of the museum with 3 different floors and 2 rooms at each floor, one to two hours are sufficient for a full...

The museum is very visitor-friendly — spacious, well-lit, and calm. There’s a good café, a shop with local design items, and often temporary exhibitions or cultural events. Inside, the exhibitions are beautifully designed and highly interactive. The main permanent exhibition, “Encounters,” tells the story of Estonian culture, traditions, and daily life from ancient times to the present. It’s immersive, multilingual (including English), and uses a lot of multimedia — touch screens, sound installations, and personal stories.
