Kampus — Restaurant in Tartu linn

This place left a very pleasant impression, the food and the atmosphere were really enjoyable. We visited for lunch with a group of friends and it was a good idea to book a table in advance, as it gets quite busy during lunchtime. They offer daily specials and my friends ordered the beef tartare and a chicken dish from that menu, both were well received. I had the salmon steak, which was nicely presented and came with a great combination of flavors: mashed potatoes, spinach purée, tomatoes, and fresh greens. Normally it also includes broccoli, but I asked them to skip it. I definitely liked the dish, the salmon was tender and tasty and the sides worked together perfectly. For dessert, my friends had panna cotta and enjoyed it, while I chose the chocolate fondant with a scoop of ice cream and sea buckthorn foam, it was really delicious. This place also has a nice selection of signature cocktails. The waitress kindly helped me choose one based on my preferences and I was very happy with the Pink Panther, it suited my taste really well. We also tried their limoncello, which we liked a lot. Went for lunch with a group of colleagues. Staff messed up/miscounted orders and served food to everyone in the group except me. After realizing the mistake, they started making additional plate. Obviously by the time it was ready everyone else in the group was already done eating, however, mistakes didn't stop there. Food was placed in takeaway package even though it wasn't requested. And even that wasn't it. Chicken was apparently rushed and slightly burnt. And even that wasn't it. Worst part of it - not a word of apology, as if nothing happened. Mistakes do happen to everyone, but in places that charge well above city average one expects either well above average food, service or both. In this case, it was neither. Everything was below par. I'm lost as repeat customer.

Yes, you and your friends might end up ordering from different counters for your meals, paying separately, etc, but this is part of the fun here - and makes for a very wide selection of food to satisfy pretty much all tastes. The fanicer of the options, Peakokk, has absolutely never disappointed - kudos to the head chef(s) or manager but pretty much every menu change retains a staggeringly high quality in its creative offerings.
