Visited this place early for breakfast before I headed for my day tour. Its one of the very few places open for breakfast in Tórshavn. It opens quite early and when I was there, there was only another couple having breakfast there. Its a very small place which is a few minutes walk from the bus/ferry terminal, near the famous Michelin restaurants. I entered and was welcomed by the owner of the shop. He showed me a menu which was only available in Faroese and apologized for it and told me to try using Google translate to try and understand the items on the menu with the free wifi available. I selected the waffle with raspberry jam, an egg and a cup of tea. The preparation time taken was a bit longer than expected as it was a one man show and there were other customers as well and also took some time to prepare the waffles as it was freshly made to order. Took some time for the food to come but was delighted when it came and the presentation looked good. First had the waffles and was surprised there was this yogurt like cream on top of the waffles. Tasted like yogurt but was milder and complemented the waffles with the raspberry jam. The waffles was quite crispy too. Then had the egg. I ordered the eggs not knowing whether it would be 1 or 2 eggs, whether it's scrambled or boiled and it turned out to be an egg served the boiled style. I also didn't know how cooked it would be but it turned out to be pretty well cooked for the egg white but the lava semi cooked egg yolk which was a pleasant surprise for me. The egg tasted so good it didn't need any seasoning could just have it plain on its own. Tasted very organic like it was fresh from the farm and the chicken had just laid it. The tea was also pretty good to complete the entire meal and I enjoyed having here a lot. Would have loved to visit again but didn't have the chance to as I wanted to explore more places to try. I have to say this place has to be the cheapest place I ate in the whole of Faroe islands. I recommend visiting this place if you happen to be...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place given the glowing reviews. I came in to get a bite, given it was around 3:30 PM. I asked to see the menu but he said there were not any, all being used. He asked me if I wanted to have lunch. Not seeing the menu I said well I don’t know, what are you offering. He started off citing pasta, or soup. I immediately said soup as I figured it will warm and quick on a rainy day. Meanwhile other groups came in. 25 mn later no soup! I then realized the big group had been served sandwiches and I’m still waiting. So I went up to ask. He said it should come out. Almost 30 mn later the brothy meatless soup came that did taste decent but not amazing. When I went to pay I couldn’t believe this bowl of soup with zucchini and a few beans set me back 145Kr or 20€! I left a bit taken for a...
Read moreCozy little house kitty corner to a beautiful old district in Tórshavn. The historic house is lovingly restored, thankfully they left quirky little goodies intact like the indoor plants that grow out of the old stone wall. As everywhere, they have cashless payment options.
There are just a few tables so it might be good to come by outside of peak hours. I only had coffee which was very good. While I was there they were baking their own rolls, cutting cheese and distributing jams and eggs for breakfast.
Highly recommend this gem,...
