Had a chance to visit this restaurant while was in Tórshavn. Did a random walk in and they managed to offer me a table without any reservation though I thought they might reject me but the upper floor was quite big and could accommodate more diners. Took the Williams menu to try 7 dishes. The restaurant was quite interesting especially in the decor it looks like a museum with a lot of artifacts and also was being shown a book which says about the history of the building. Food was served quite quickly, didn't take long for the dishes to come. First was a mixed platter of seemingly local produce which was quite interesting. Tried the salted lamb and the air dried lamb, which could be extreme for tourists. For me it was a good experience trying local food, wasn't too bad for a small portion but won't try more. There was also Faroese cheese which I didn't really like. First was the shrimp toast. It tasted average and I think the sauce tasted better it wouldn't have tasted good without the sauce. The toast was a bit dry as well. Next came the monkfish carpaccio. The fish was fresh but I didn't like the overall taste as it was a strange combination putting the grapefruit and the fish together. The braised lamb was good but the portion seemed to be pretty similar be it for 1 or 2 person. It was so big for me I struggled to finish it I thought was for 1 turned out the couple next to me seemed to have a similar portion. The highlight of the meal was actually the next dish which was the fried fish collar. It was so nicely fried and the fish was so crispy you can just finish every bit of it except for the hard bones. It was so good you could just eat it plain. Salad looked messy and simple. Looked disappointing and the salad was too dry. Was expecting a lot for the dessert wanting to see how the buttermilk mousse tasted like but was disappointed that it just tasted like yogurt cream. Was expecting it to be a sweet dessert but turned out otherwise. A mix of hits and misses, felt the taste didn't really complement in the dishes and flavours were weird in some cases. For 7 courses the price of the meal seemed reasonable compared to many other restaurants in Faroe Islands but whether to eat again here will require more...

We found ourselves in downtown Torshavn on a Saturday night with empty stomachs and no reservations, admittedly a mistake on our part. After several failed walk-in attempts, Katrina Christiansen was the first restaurant with open tables and we leapt at the chance to experience their 7 course tasting menu. It started with a bowl of bread chunks with delicious whipped butter, followed slowly by the “hot” courses of the tasting menu (we later discovered they forgot to bring us the “cold” appetizers). There was a blood orange & swordfish dish (3/5), a potato casserole that arrived at room temperature (3/5, would have been much better hot), and fish croquettes (2/5). We were then informed dessert was next and had to explain to a new server that we only received 3 of the 7 courses. She apologized and went to retrieve the cold appetizers, which consisted of a celery-root dish (3/5), a few cut up cherry tomatoes bathed in overpowering mint (1/5), and five very hot churros to share between 3 people (3/5).
At this point we were 2 hours into a very expensive, very underwhelming meal. The waitress offered coffee/drinks to go with the upcoming desert. The drinks arrived but the desert never did. After 30 minutes of being totally ignored (we suspect our waitress clocked out for the evening), we finally got up to pay our bill and leave. They were nice enough to pack up our forgotten desert to go when we asked about it (sans spoons), but offered nothing to make up for the multiple failures in service we experienced. This was an all around terrible experience, made worse by the hefty price tag of $95 (usd) per person (plus drinks).
Oh and the desert traveled quite well, it was the highlight of the meal (4/5).
Tasting menu fail Oh Katrina Christensen Please...
Read moreSharing a mixed review which was also shared with the restaurant on the second day we visited. We came here first for the evening tapas menu. We were walk in customers and had the best experience. From being looked after, top service and staff friendliness to the amazing, delicious 7 course meal. We loved it so much that we returned for the Sunday lunch. The tapas experience gets 10/10. The Sunday lunch unfortunately a 1/10. and couldn’t recommend the Sunday at all. We got served cold food considering it was a lamb roast with potatoes, red cabbage, peas and sauce. There was no food smell in the air and given the food was accidentally served cold tells me that whoever was in the kitchen didn’t cook it that day and only reheated it. For the price charged, unacceptable. We raised it with the staff (different one from the previous experience) and she brought out a new platter. While not cold, food was still not fully heated through. After waiting 30 min to pay, we gave up and walked to their desk to pay & leave. If I visit Faroe Islands again, I would definitely come here for the tapas meal again but I stay clear of the Sunday lunch. Points reflect a combined score. Just the tapas would get...
