As an Asian I worry about eating Asian food overseas wondering if the standard is there and might just waste money eating something terrible. I don't understand why whenever I walk past this place there is always a group of people hanging outside. This place is also one of the rare places in Tórshavn where it opens till late so should you want to have something late can always consider this place. I got back from a tour at 9pm so this was the place I could think of. There was still a long wait outside and when I wanted to order, was told there would be a 30 minutes wait. Ordered a pad thai and fried chicken and it costs me 210DKK! Quite expensive for Asian food context but guess this is like pretty standard meal prices in Faroe Islands. This is just a takeaway place so there's actually nowhere one could dine here except if you want to sit on the floor in front of the shop. There is an online site which is better to order and pay and just collect on the site if you are not prepared to wait here for long. I got my food after a long wait and finally walked back to my accommodation to have the meal. When I opened I didn't realized that the portion was so big that it could actually be shared between at least 2 people. The fried chicken was a bit disappointing based on the price compared to the portion. I thought there would be some sauce given at least for dipping but there was none. The portion of the pad thai was really big and I tried to stuff it all down. Other than the portion, it tasted decent but of course a far cry from the Thai version. Tasted a bit strange as it felt more like fried noodles in tomato sauce, and not sure about the quality of the noodles because those at the base were all stuck to the takeaway box. The prawns were quite big but didn't taste very fresh to me. The fried chicken was okay to be honest, the flavours were there and the skin was crispy, meat was juicy, just would be better if there was some condiment to go along with. Nothing fantastic but it was just average tasting. Definitely trying to be authentic as it is handled by Thais but maybe have limitations to the ingredients they can find in the island...
Read moreI agree with another reviewer - this is perfect after a few days of Scandinavian food or after depleting calories post-hikes or if you are simply craving 'spice or curry or masala' :-).
That evening, we ordered pasta for the kids and my wife, from a nearby restautant and I got a takeout for myself from here. Over-enthusiastically, I ordered 3 dishes - all for myself! Portions were huge! Back in the room, nobody liked the pasta and slowly started nibbling on my food. Soon, all of us were eating from the takeout box. We had a little bit leftover, that we took with us on the road and finished next day.
There were a few parking spots, right outside the 'service window'. And if I am not wrong, I had to call for them or ring a bell or something! Took them 15 minutes to deliver the food. Highly recommend. Do not go by the simple 'streetside' appearance -...
Read moreAbsolutely fantastic Thai takeaway (order is taken through a window at the front of the restaurant) in Tórshavn! I visited a few weeks ago, and I'm still dreaming about the food, especially the fluffy fried rice with chicken – it was simply wonderful. The quality of the dishes was top-notch, and the serving sizes were very generous. Yes, it might be a bit on the pricier side, but trust me, it's worth every króna!
Just a heads-up, they don't seem to open until around 4:30 p.m. or so, but they do stay open late, so make sure to check their hours before you head over. Even though I'm back home now, that delicious Thai food is still on my mind. Highly recommended if you're in the Faroe Islands and craving some authentic and satisfying...
