Round Kallio Café — Restaurant in Helsinki sub-region

Seeing these beautiful pictures on Instagram of the donuts Round offers, there was no doubt I wanted to go out and try out their products.

Arriving to Round in Kallio was easy by foot. Stepping inside the place itself, you find youself surrounded with laid back interior and interesting art decorating the walls. Interior design is really simplistic, but neat and cozy in it's own, rough way.

Service depends a lot on the employee you interact with. English is the way to go here, which gives the place a nice international touch. Sadly, the experience you will have can be like night and day, depending on who you actually have serving you.

Donuts themselves are a bit on the pricey side when comparing to the quality of the products. Glazing doesn't really live up to the pictures from social media, and the taste leaves you waiting for something more. Glazing on Round Kallio's donuts can taste mostly like plain sugar, the dough is quite dense and lacks the fluffier side of these kind of donuts I personally would crave for. This being said, the donuts ARE nice, but fall short of being anything special.

Round Kallio serves super tasty donuts which they do in-house, with coffee and tea. They also have a 50% discount for all kinds of donuts after 8:00 PM everyday, which is an awesome feature of the place. The atmosphere inside is cozy and relaxing, the place is also used as a small art-gallery for local artists. I'm not sure if that happens everyday but at least at the moment I've visited there were some pictures.

When I was sitting here I saw a lot of people taking donuts takeaway and not staying inside which probably indicates that this place is quite popular among locals.

I’ve been coming to this place quite often as it’s right next to where I live. The donuts are ok, but nothing special really. A bit dry even.

I won’t be coming in anymore, not because of the mediocre donuts but because of the poor customer service.

The cashier didn’t even greet me when I came in and I said hello to them.
