Zinnkeller — Restaurant in Helsinki sub-region

Unbelivably bad service. I had booked an reservation for me and a friend out of town who very much wanted to experience authentic german food and upon arrival, out reserved table was not what we wished. We wished for a window seat, understandably not always available, but we were told that the whole restaurant is suddenly fully booked because a large group was coming in.

Normally this is not a problem, but apparently they booked last minute ( my guess ) and they pushed back other customers wishes because of this. We were shown a small table in the middle of the restaurant, opposite of our wishes, and when I politely asked isn’t there any other table — Suddenly there was! Even at this time the waiter was very rude, even rolling their eyes at us. I was shocked.

We were offered a window seat, very nice table. But. There was a lady leaning in from the kitchen, listening and the staff was so rude. No apologies, no thank you, nothing. The waiter just left at one point without saying anything and we waited at our table without anything happening. I started to think that maybe our food will not be as good because of the kitchen staff perceiving us as demanding.

So we decided to for a lack of a better for to ditch the place, I booked a last minute table at a resteaurant around the corner and what a change. White table cloths, welcoming service, just what we were looking for. We got our champagne and everything, so a happy ending.

I absolutely love this authentic German restaurant in the stylish Kruununlinna area! The atmosphere is welcoming, and the service is fantastic — both in Finnish and German. There are a few tables outside, and we were lucky enough to grab one and soak up the wonderful April sun in Helsinki. The menu is delicious and meat-focused, though a few more vegan options would make it even better. The selection of German beers on tap is excellent, and they also offer a great range of wines from different regions of Germany — all served at just the right temperature. The restaurant is very easy to reach by public transportation, but finding a parking spot nearby can be a bit tricky. Highly...

Ordered the Wienerschnitzel with Fried potatoes. Food was excellent. Also ordered the apple strudel with ice cream, but there must have been a trip up because I only received the appel strudel. It was good but I probably would have loved it much more with the ice cream.

Service was slow but I've come to expect that in Finland. The staff spoke decent english

The biggest problem / issue is the restaurant is tucked away quite a bit away from downtown. Probably a good 10-15 minute walk from the Central Train Station and far from other tourist locations. If this was closer to city center it would be a...
