Presentation is almost everything but taste is personal and for me, it was lacking the latter. While a Michelin rated restaurant, a fixed price menu is also not my favorite thing especially when there are 2 prices, There were 6 item at 110 E and 4 for 80 E, the 110 E price included the protein items all 6 courses while the 80 E had 4, no protein. And we are talking bite sized courses, no problem with that .1st course a mini pizza type starter,, then a type of tuna mousse , reminded us of a Hartz Squeeze Up with this crisps, lovely to view but definitely not our favorite, then eggplant rolled around some tomato type chutney with thin eggplant crisps on top, not exciting, sorry but I still cook from scratch, then a prawn came, that was 1 of the 6 , so only 1 came, then a stuffed zucchini flower with a single zucchini stalk, and there is basically a bread/starch with every course that matches the item. Then the last protein which was a fish which while petite and lovely was drenched in a really really spicy sauce so you could not taste the fish, more bread. Dessert was pretty, an almond shape tiramisu, assorted chocolate pieces & a cassata (?) cake, that's the white dessert with pistachios on the top, sort of an interesting take .Service was excellent with an explanation of everything and decor lovely. Took pictures of almost everything to send to our family, it's a family tradition...
Read moreAix En Provence is generally quite an expensive place, and Cours Mirabeau being the central place, you can imagine should be really expensive. On the other hand, Italiano Trattoria is one of the hidden gem on Cours Mirabeau with a really nice range of Italian food.
The drinks are amazing. You have choice between the bottled Italian ones or the freshly made ones.
The pizzas were made of really fresh ingredients. You can feel it in the taste. The cheese they used was Mamma Mia. I had a pizza with sausages; and trust me, sausages was really yummy and of course fresh.
The desserts were okay-ish I would say. However, the pistachio tiramisu is a nice choice.
Unlike the regular restaurant this one has self service. You enter the restaurant, order your food and then choose a table to sit. So it was a nice experience of meal with a beautiful view of Cours Mirabeau; and by the time you finish your food the Cours Mirabeau gets illuminated.
Frankly, even being at Cours Mirabeau, it is not at all expensive.
Bingo,...
